Spending holidays with FH's family instead of yours for the first time?

Just curious what everyone is doing and how people feel about it... for thanksgiving we are going to his mom's for dinner and then my sister's for dessert. we think we can alternate as long as they are both near each other.

not sure about christmas yet; we might do eve at my mom's b/c it's a bigger deal in my family and christmas day at his family.

I'm kind of excited b/c i never did a holiday with his family...but I don't know how i'd feel if I wasn't seeing my family at all that day - like my sisters, who alternate every year.

We always try to split the days..This thanksgiving we will be at my parents. His mom will be upstate and we are going away for the weekend the day after so its just easier to be down here on the island. Xmas eve will most likely be at my parents as well, and xmas day will be with his family. His uncle hosts xmas dinner every year. But this time FH is going to try and incorporate my family in there too...
Every year its an argument though so thats why i'm hoping the next time the holidays roll around i'm in a bigger place so i can just have everyone there and then i dont have to here everyones b*tching about why im where I am

We split all of our holidays, meaning we spend a few hours at each. He has a HUGE family; at my house its just my parents and myself. So far its worked out ok!

that's what our plan is - my sisters are like wait until you have kids, it gets much harder to do that. But no issue with that for a whiiile.

Its funny My family celebrates X-mas eve and his family does X-mas day so it works out for everyone.

Everyone is together anyway...they invite each other over .


Thanksgiving.....we are all going to be together...again. Easter they will invite my parents over.....so its never separate.

we split our holidays. we have since we started dating.
We'll do dinner with his mom and grandfather since 'real' food is more important to him/them lol silly Italians and b/c his mom doesnt really have anyone else.

then we do dessert with my family.

Christmas Eve is supposed to be MY holiday lol b/c his family didn't really do anything and my family has a huge party. Well, his family has started with the big party again too so i'm not sure what we'll do.

Christmas day at my house isn't that big of a deal. it's usually sitting on the couch eating left overs... so we spend it with his.

My family does gifts on Christmas Eve his does them on Christmas Morning.

We are splitting the holidays. Last thanksgiving we were at his sisters then years we will be with my family. We are gonna try dinner at one and dessert at the other - we will see how that goes.

Christmas Eve will always be with his family and Christams Day will always be with mine.

that's awesome! my siste does that - she has thanksgiving and invites both her side and his side. It gets pretty rowdy, but it's nice.

Well last year we did thanksgiving at my house, i have a feeling he might want to do the same this year bc his parents and brother go upstate to his aunts house and fh doesn't like the drive lol...but yesterday my mom suggested inviting his family over for thanksgiving so ill ask them, but i told her not to expect anything bc his mom might've already made the plans with her sister upstate

christmas eve his family has a tradition of going to picolo venezia this italian restaurant so thats what im gonna do and at night we go back to his house and at midnight we all open up gifts.

piccola venezia sounds so familiar... is there one in queens?

i always spend the holidays with my family and he always spends the holidays with his family.

then at night he comes over to see my family and picks me up to go back to his house.

this is what we have done for the last few years and once we get married we will have to figure something else out.

but for now.. since it is our last holidays home we are going to handle them the way we always have.

yeah its in astoria, thats why i said it in here, i had told you about it last time when you were looking for a place to take your parents, DUH im an idiot i just saw i wrote in the city above, i dont even know why its in astoria thats the one we go to lol

this is pretty much what we've done the past 4 years, he always comes at the end of the night but i don't usually see his mom... but i think now we should both be with her at some point. We both think we can split it as long as it's never at his aunt's in the city... my sister always has thansgiving and she's like 10 mins from his house.

christmas day i'll be pretty bummed if i don't see my parents b/c none of my sisters are there either... but I'll figure something out.
