Just got back from our $256 vet visit. And, the puppy is absolutely healthy.
I love the fear tactics they use...
'Well, yeah, she's fine now. But, that doesn't mean she can't contract something later. And, you should really consider getting pet insurance.'
FOR A DOG THAT'S COMPLETELY HEALTHY!!!

$48 for visit $106 for year supply of heart worm medicine (to PREVENT heart worms)
$70 for two different types of stool testing (just to tell me that she doens't have any type of intestinal or other worm)
and the rest was for a shot for distemper, something he stuck in her nose, and then a ringwork, hookworm, and one other worm...
I guess NJ is very wormy...he was saying that where we live (the dam suburbs here) have a very high rate of various worms...

pretty bad. but, the vet said she can start going out now...(now that we pumped her full of worm meds) and to just skip paper/pad training because she's just tearing it all up and eating the paper and pads. he said to just jump start her on the crate/outside training because she can't really be around any of the paper products...

oh god~ some get it easier than others! hopefully she'll be better going outside rather than the paper... since she's eating her potty place! good luck!!!

Re: spensive!
I learned the hard way that pets are expensive!!! earlier this year, my cat, Gunnar had an infected tooth that cost us over $800 to get taken care of..... Luckily, they pulled the tooth, so he now has one less to bite me with

Re: spensive!
Lolita, can you recommend vets in BK? My vet used to be in LI (where I had insurance through Banfield) but they hired a Dr. with all kinds of bad things on his record and my baby needs boosters and a great vet (not just good) since he has all sort of tummy issues...Thanks!
