Have any of you considered the option of Dad being the stay at home parent? Two of my friends are doing this by choice and are very happy with the arrangement.

Re: Spin off on Motherhood and Working Full Time
My friend due in February is going back to work and her husband is staying home. They are really looking forward to the arrangement.

We considered it, but in an effort to be honest with ourselves, I could never be the one to leave each day. I would be a wreck!
Dh can work at home...so it may be an option...especially if I get this 1 day a week job....

Steve would love to stay home, but we can't do that, plus I can bring Damien to work with me.

Re: Spin off on Motherhood and Working Full Time
We actually did that for the first 5 months of Joey's life. My husband really hated his job and I couldn't leave mine so he stayed at home as Dad and I went to work. Now he wants to start working (from home) so we hired a nanny to take care of Joey while he figures out what to do from home! Only thing I have to say about it is that it's not so easy having the pressure of having to bring home the bacon... but then, neither is being the one to take care of the baby all day long. Actually, I think that is the tougher one!

Our very good friends are expecting in March, and they are considering having a SAHD I think it's a wonderful option, especially if the Mom has the higher earning potential and the Dad is comfortable leading the domestic role.
