Re: Spin off registering for mommies
I wonder why I registered for the Exersaucer. I won't need it for a while and it's huge and taking up space!
I registered for a sterilizer that I didnt' use. A wipes warmer I don't use. A monitor I don't use. A bundle-me car seat cover I don't use. A million receiving blankets when I needed like 5. The rest I already donated. A diaper genie I don't use A sleep positioner I don't use A bassinet I don't use A carseat I don't like
Things I can't do without:
These little lightly scented blue plastic bags that I put diapers in before they hit the trash. Made by Especially for Baby.
Cradle Aquarium Swing
My stroller which has served as a bassinet, activity center, and the carseat fits on it with an adaptor. LOVE my stroller.
NASAL ASPIRATOR. You must register for a little health/safety kit, and make sure it has the little nasal bulb thing. I use this all the time. She is always congested. And saline drops as well.

I second the diaper genie... I hate that thing. Can't figure out how it works, so we use it as a garbage can. Don't use the sleep positioner either. I don't really like the baby carrier that I have... I think she's a bit to small for it.
Absolutely thankful that I have her crib... she loves it for daytime naps and her cradle for her nighttime naps. Her cuddle ducks cradle swing is a god-send!

Things I HAD TO have and don't use...
sleep positioner car seat level Baby Bjorn (he HATES it ) Bottle warmer wipes warmer ear thermometer (although I suspect I may have more use for this in the future)
Things I didn't register for (although I was told I should) and don't miss...
diaper disposal system travel system stroller sterilizer
Things Nicolas LOVES and I'm thankful to have...
Bouncy seat Ocean Wonders Swing Kolcraft UCC Sassy diaper disposal bags Halo sleep sacks Baby Einstein DVD series (these are a sure fire soother. He will stop crying instantly when I put on one of these!) Dr. Brown's bottles Step & Play Piano (he's too small to reach the toys, but he LOVES standing up and getting a look at the world from that angle.)
ETA I couldn't live without my video monitor. One glance lets me know if Nicky is sleeping restlessly or if he's awake and I should go in to him. My tired body LOOOOVES that monitor!

Re: Spin off registering for mommies
I am bumping this. I was doing a search because I need registry help (there is so much out there). I think this is a great thread for mommies to be!
Please add some more....

Jenn - did you trash your Baby Bjorn? Cause Sophia screamed murder in that thing like 25 times over, and then one day I tried last ditch effort before donating it, and wouldn't you know....

Re: Spin off registering for mommies
I sold my Baby Bjorn on ebay, Luke hated it too and I didnt really find it all that comfortable. I got a fleece sling, I highly, highly recommend them, so comfy and you can get so much more done, the baby is on your hip (when they are not newborn) instead of in front of you.
Snap & Go Bouncy Seat Exersaucer (for later) Halo sleep sacks Ultimate Crib Sheet washclothes lots of sleepers
Didn't Need:
50 bajillion receiving blankets diaper genie - used it for a while but gave up sleep positioner baby sling (tried 2 different kinds)
I'm sure there's more...

Right now we have the Safety First Child View monitor. It has a camera that we mounted over Nick's crib (you can also stand it on a dresser), and a little TV monitor that we keep next to the bed. It saves me from having to trek the 5 paces to his room during the night. I can see if he's sleeping and restless or if he's awake.
I just ordered a hand held video monitor that allows you to take the monitor part from room to room. I think this will be very helpful in the summer when we are outside. The one we have now would be a pain in the you-know-what to move.

I still have it. I think I'll give it one more shot before we scrap it completely.

Re: Spin off registering for mommies
jenn you should keep it until he can use it facing forward. I think a lot of babies don't like the scrunched up facing chest feeling. (i know I wouldn't) - and of course I totally jinxed myself. I went to put her in it last night and she lost it!
