I would not change a thing!
I always thought I would cry but I didn't

Re: spin-off to BF getting engaged

Not at all how I imagined it. Mainly because it wasn't a surprise. No special dinner, no romantic setting, none of that. We had talked about getting married and our future so much, that we picked the ring out together. And then when we got back to the house, he got down on one knee and proposed.

Would I change any of it? No. Because the most important thing to me is he asked me to be his wife, it doesn't matter to me how he did it.

I suppose I wouldn't have said 'are you f-ing joking?' but it makes for a funnier story, especially since HE says I said it but I don't remember that part!

i would not have been wearing old sweatpants with a hole in them and an oversized gray t-shirt

If I could go back, I would remember to say yes. I was just so dazzled by the ring.

I would go back and pay attention to what fh was saying. My memory of it is so blurred that I really dont remember much of anything that was said.

I wouldn't say that I'm unhappy with FH's proposal, but there were two things that tainted it. FH proposed in front of both of our families during a Mother's Day brunch at his mom's house. It was incredibly sweet and I love that we got to share our special moment with our families, but right after FH proposed, his mother basically forced him to go play with his 7 year old cousins instead of spending time with his brand-new fiancee (me!!). So for an hour after the proposal, I sat there like a jack@ss while FH played with his cousins. No wonder there's a little tension between me and my FMIL...

I also found out that FH had planned to propose four months earlier at our favorite restaurant with our families there, but once FH's grandmother found out about the plan, she insisted that he invite his aunt and uncle who he's not even that close with. (In fact, they are the parents of the cousins that FH was forced to play with!!) The aunt and uncle couldn't make it on the planned day and FH's grandmother was really being a pest, so FH gave up in frustration and waited until May to finally ask me.

I'm thrilled that we are engaged and that we are spending our lives together. FH's proposal was very sweet and I will remember it forever. BUT...the fact that his family meddled so much in our special moment still pisses me off to this day!!!

It's funny that you ask that, b/c knowing what I know now, I think I would rather the proposal have been a private moment. Although being in front of our families was nice, the proposal lacked an element of 'romance' that I was hoping for.

In FH's defense, though, he thought that I wanted the proposal to be in front of our families, and he was trying to make me happy. Sometimes I wish we could go back in time and do it over...I think FH would have done something amazing if he didn't feel like we had to have family there!

I also felt like you did about having no one to tell. Most of our family was there, so we just told a few friends and that was it!! I wish we had some time where we were the only ones who knew we were engaged. I think it would have been fun to announce our engagement to everyone.

Same here, I always thought I would be crying my eyes out. I think I was too much in shock, I really thought he was joking. I couldn't believe it was actually happening.

***The only thing that I would have changed was, as he was down on 1 knee in the middle of proposing the limo driving called to tell us that he was there waiting for us outside Central Park. It kind of ruined the moment and he rushed through the proposal and we couldn't even sit there for a minute to soak it all in. I didn't even think to ask someone to take a picture of us or anything.***
So, I wish the limo driver didn't interrupt the proposal. But other than that it was amazing and I couldn't have asked for anything better.

Re: spin-off to BF getting engaged

His orginal plan was to propose to me on our carriage ride through the park, but changed his mind in the middle of the ride, b/c he was afraid that he would fall out of carriage.
