Re: spin-off to BF getting engaged

It wasn't what I had expected. I always thought I would be proposed to over a candlelit dinner at a nice restaurant. Figures I would imagine it involving food! Instead he did it at the NYC Thanksgiving Day parade, and I wouldn't change a thing!! Just wish my bro (who knew about it) had the sense to pull out his camera and take a pic of my FH down on one knee to capture the moment. Oh well!!

It was a beautiful proposal, but I almost forgot to answer. He ended it with 'I want you to be my wife', since that isn't a question it took me a moment to realize I needed to say 'Yes'. I was too busy up on cloud 9 tho, he had to ask 'Is that a Yes?' I didn't cry, tho we were both weepy, and I was too weak in the knees to stand, so I sat on a police barracade and leaned on him to watch the parade.

Ahh, I love that story!!!

yes - i know what you mean!! i heard some girls talking about what their FI's were saying - mine barely was able to blurt out 'marry me' before i had 3 screaming aunts a jumping cousin!! LOL

Talking about this is making me feel so much better!! I'm so glad that I wasn't the only one who had the 'crazy family proposal'. The idea of 3 screaming aunts and a jumping cousin is funny. We had no jumping cousins, but FH's ten year old cousin thought we were playing a joke on everybody.

I was half asleep. He ordered room service for breakfast and proposed. I thought I would cry, but I didnt.

I wouldn't change it considering the circumstances under which we became engaged. He proposed in front of my entire immediate family when my Dad had still been with us but had been in the hospital. We needed some happiness. I just wish I didn't throw up afterwards.

Hm..I would have put us somewhere else in the Mohegan Sun besides our hotel room. Otherwise I'll always remember how nervous he was, and how crafty he thought he was setting it up.

would not change a thing! FH went above & beyond what I could imagine! He really shocked me & my reaction was what he thought, I cried

Although FH was incredibly sweet w/ how he thought he was sneaking around to plan, I wish he would have said more to me than 'would you marry me.'

My first words back to him were, 'that's stupid,' b/c he proposed outside of Uncle Jack's steakhouse (where we had our first kiss--but I didn't realize at the time). In my mind we were all dressed up & going for a very nice dinner & he's outside in the cold, on the sidewalk, down on one knee. I was so shocked & surprised (I kinda knew it was coming that night, but never in a million years thought it would be outside the restaurant) that all I could say was, that's stupid (& then yes) & I never cried. I kinda wish it was a little more romantic.

My FI proposed on Christmas during a carriage ride in Central Park. It was beautiful (and cold!) but I knew that he was going to propose on Christmas and he KNEW that I KNEW! So I wish that he had changed the date so that I would have actually been surprised.

My E-ring was two sizes two big - I wish that he had tried to figure out my ring size rather than having to get it resized right after.

Overall, it not what i expected, honestly I was really depressed after b/c I felt that the proposal was what HE envisoned, not what he thought I would want. But we've been together for five years and I love him more than anything so I eventually got over it and didn't let the little things taint the proposal.

lol - i tell my FI that he proposed with a toilet seat - my ring was sooo big!! i had about 1/2 a roll of tape on the back of it to keep it on!!!

I wish I would have thought to whip out the camera to take pictures!!! (I cried so hard that I got bruises under my eyes, so maybe it's just as well that I didn't take any.)

His proposal was perfect, beautiful, and intimate - just like our relationship is. I wouldn't have changed anything about it.

It was so much better than I thought, who knew he could be so creative, and I never thught he could surprise me bc we had already started making wedding plans before the engagement. But I balled like a baby! And got everyone else around me crying too! LOL

I would not change anything. The most important thing to me is that I am marrying the love of my life and I am truly blessed

I suppose I wouldn't have said 'are you f-ing joking?' but it makes for a funnier story, especially since HE says I said it but I don't remember that part!

I love it!!!

Well, I'm not an '06 bride, I'm an '06 MOH, LOL!

Nor do I look like this anymore, but I might have changed my reaction, when my husband aked my mother for my hand in marriage. I honestly thought it was a joke and was waiting for everyone to laugh - HA? HA?
