did you guys Not see He's Just Not That Into you...? ok so a couple in the movie have been together for like 7 years and still Not married... We are getting married!!!!! in the movie it talks about how if you are with a guys for years and years and not married thats how it goes... but if you wind up getting married after all that time then we are the exception!!!! you guys have to see the movie to really see the whole concept!!

I have been with FH almost 8 years. I see what you mean now. I was confused in the beginning too. I was sick of hearing - wheres the ring? then you start thinking.. maybe there wont be a ring! EEK!

but 8 years and still going strong!
ETA - I haven't seen the movie either - that's why I was confused lol

We started dating at 16/17 by 18 we (and everyone else knew) we'd get married. Got engaged at 21 (senior year of college), so I never had that 'maybe it'll never come' feeling. I can't imagine not being in a relationship where the future is clear and no one ever asked those questions. The closest thing I got was right before the trip when FH proposed some of my friends and family said 'I think he's going to propose'...but it wasn't much of a stretch since we had already been ring shopping.

we were supposed to get married at 24, but life got in the way..Now we're 27 and will god-willing get married at 28/29. I'm kind of glad it worked out that way. We've been through a lot together, and in the end it has made us stronger, but I don't know if we would have survived it as a young married couple with all of the pressures and expectations that brings. Since we weren't married when all the crap happenned, it was harder bc we weren't living together, but also easier because when it started impactng our relationship, at least for me I think I felt better NOT being married. I think if I had been married I would have though 'what the hell did I get myself into?' FH and I are both a lot more mature than we were at 23/24. We also don't have sunshine and rainbows illusions about marriage.

I totally see what you mean. It makes sense. when you are going through a lot sometimes it is easier that you aren't married. In my head I always knew we would get married, but you start to doubt it after a while... not all the time but those thoughts came creeping into my head a few times. but then every vacation I went on everyone was always saying.. maybe you will get the ring! lol
I am glad we waited though. we bought a house together and are a lot more mature now, and know how to handle things a lot better than a few years ago. I think the married transition will be a bit easier now that we are older/more mature.

that's a good way of looking at it!
