spin-off to howe long have you been with FH

ok so i just finished watching He's Just Not That into You and i LOVE that movie... but i also love that so many of the girls on here have been with there FH for a long time(myself 8 years) and WE are GETTING MARRIED!!! meaning WE ARE THE EXCEPTIONS NOT THE RULE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WHHHOOOO HOOOOOO

did you guys Not see He's Just Not That Into you...? ok so a couple in the movie have been together for like 7 years and still Not married... We are getting married!!!!! in the movie it talks about how if you are with a guys for years and years and not married thats how it goes... but if you wind up getting married after all that time then we are the exception!!!! you guys have to see the movie to really see the whole concept!!

I read the book when it first came out,.

I guess it's referring to if you're together that long and he hasn't popped the question he's just not that into you.

I never saw it that way since FH and I started dating very young and knew early on we wanted to get married. Life happenned and we didn't get to get married young like we wanted to, so we'll be getting married on our 12th anniversary!

I guess I also don't buy into that because at this stage of the game, I wouldn't waste my time with a man who didn't have clear intentions of marriage. In some ways I was always like that.

I def totally agree.. at 25, if FH and I didnt work out (not to be negative - but you always have to think about the other side of things... because you cant walk around in rose-colored glasses)...i would keep it moving as well..

but like you said, i was young and didnt want to get married before 25.. thats just our scenario.. but i guess its case by case situtation...

That's what I didn't understand. I didn't see the movie and I thought she meant that women who have been with their men for a long time are the exceptions to the rule and not the norm which would start some comments. I stand corrected!

Did you see the movie? If not, you wouldn't get it. Ben Afleck and Jen Aniston are together for YEARS. He doesn't want to get married, and she does. Finally, he proposes. Another character talked about how you hear all these stories (not just about marriage anything with relationships- for example a bad guy turning good), and they are exceptions to the rule.

It would make sense if you saw it. hahaha

I haven't seen the movie but can't wait for it to get here by Netflix.

Funny story - my friend met her ex-husband (that's right, they got divorced) in high school. They dated for 7-8 years, and finally got engaged when she was in grad school. They moved in together, lived happily for 2 years, got married on Year 3, and then about 6 months after the wedding , my friend discovered her new hubby was cheating on her with someone she knew. Hubby said he would work things out - 6 months later the 'mistress' announced she was pregant with his baby on Facebook..

So my friend filed for divorce at the age of 26.,..She tells me her biggest regret was getting married at her age..

no I was being sarcastic. Its actually pretty sad, I heard all the play by play when it all happened.. - but she took the whole thing really well. She just turned 28 and is planning yet another trip to the Far East with her single friends. Hubby signed the divorce papers and moved in with his mistress...

I have been with FH almost 8 years. I see what you mean now. I was confused in the beginning too. I was sick of hearing - wheres the ring? then you start thinking.. maybe there wont be a ring! EEK!

but 8 years and still going strong!
ETA - I haven't seen the movie either - that's why I was confused lol
