so after reading kerbers FIL post

it got me wondering... what do you call your future in laws?

mom and dad?
mr and mrs?
john & marsha?

i've been calling them by their first names for 10 years.. i dont know if i'll be able to transition and start calling them Mom & Dad

I call his father Papi and I don't call his mother anything-i only met her once.

first names for now, but when we have kids i'll prob call them whatever we decide my kids are calling them

but when we were gown shopping and i was with my mom and FMIL i referred to them as 'my two mommy's'

i LOVE FILs so maybe i'll call them what FH calls them - mami and papi because they are argentinean

mom and dad...but I dont like it..I do it out of respect. It especially bothers me to call my FMIL mom because my mom died when I was young, and it feels like I am betraying my mom by calling someone else that.

But, like I said..i do it out of respect for them

mr and mrs d I dont know about calling them mom and dad but fh addresses my parents as mom and dad on cards and stuff.

This thread is funny because my MIL and I were talking about this recently.

She would like me to call her Mom, but that is not happening, so we came up with a nickname- Milly- get it M-I-L-ly.

I call her by her first name. When I gave her a Christmas card form Fh and myself, I wrote mom. She signs her card Mom and her first name which I think is sweet.

Funny enough my mother and stepfather signed FHs birthday card recently and wrote 'mom & dad'. I said - I don't even call you dad and he's going to? Haha weird.

(note that I would call him dad bc we're very close but my father is still in the picture so it's just weird calling 2 ppl dad)

I call them by their first names usually (when I talk about them too). but I also call FMIL 'mom' and FFIL the Armenian for 'dad', but when I talk about him to FMIL, I say 'dad' (bc she does...)

FH calls mine Mom and Dad (although that was an issue for my 'mama's-boy-of-a-brother' at the beginning!)

They've asked me to call them by their first names, but I feel really awkward doing that, so I prefer to call them nothing lol. I don't know why I feel so awkward, but I do.

I don't EVER see myself calling them mom and dad--I'm really close to my parents, and it just wouldn't work for me.
