Spin off to: QOTD ( or Part III I guess )

Has anyone ever 'dodged a bullet.' Did you ever make a choice and you feel that if you HADN'T made that choice, it would be on that regrets list over on the other QOTD?

yes. My ex before FH. We were together for 5 years and he got 'scared' so he cheated... he siad he needed time to just be single, but he still wanted to 'date' me, but other people too... I *almost* stayed around, then i woke up and bounced. If I would have stayed, I would have never known what a real relationship is and what real love feels like...

Heck yes !! I almost didn't break up with an ex. Thank goodness I did or I never would have found FH. He is the greatest love of my life. I am such a lucky woman

Re: Spin off to: QOTD ( or Part III I guess )

good ones!!

I have two, the other thread made me think about it

The first one is that I almost just went through the motions of becoming a teacher because I didn't know what else to do. Luckily, at the time I had to pick my major I had two GREAT teachers, one in English and one in Italian so I doubled majored in those subjects instead. I don't use my degree BUT I got to study in Rome and my proudest accomplishment is my English MA.

The other is NOT moving in with DH. After I graduated he wanted to move in together and get an apartment. You girls know how traditional I am and I said no, and I stuck with my decision even though it caused MANY problems in our relationship. In the end I am glad because I don't think he would have proposed as soon as he did ( about 6 months after that conversation ) AND also I read a lot of girls on here saying that after the wedding there was no difference because they had already lived together. I know that is what some people want, but after ten years together I wanted an entirely new andd different experience and that is what we are going through right now and its wonderful!

i expected it to be harder, and i think thats where i went RIGHT bc i thought it would be such a hard adjustment and it WASN'T the easiest but we got used to each other very quickly.

People told us that we would have a really hard time at first but after ten years together, I pretty much knew that he was never going to put his clothes in the hamper or his dishes in the sink

and its amazing, its been three months and every single morning and every single night i think about how lucky i am to be married to him - i love cooking and cleaning and just being WITH him

ok i am corny, thats enough

I did. When I met FH, it was the WORST time - I loved being single - and he was in the beginning of a new relationship. We started as friends and then we kissed - and I knew he was the one. One night I said maybe I should backoff - let his relationship with the other girl run its course. But I didnt. And Im glad - they werent even together a month before I fell into his lap.

he says its the best thing that ever happened to him.

I almost married an ex. I was with him for 6+ years. It was fine... it was mediocre... it was comfortable. Getting married was the next logical step, and I knew that for my next bday I would likely get a ring... Then I met FH, and I though, 'oh THIS is how its supposed to be...' but I almost didn't break up w/my ex b/c, well after being with someone for that long you're afraid for your security and youre afraid to hurt them. It was SO tough, but it was the best decision I ever made. FH and I were engaged less than a year after.

awe, that is so sweet

Joey and I moved in after a year and 3 months. I was weary because I'd never lived with anyone (except my family, obviously) and I didn't know what to expect. It was amazing and I felt like how you feel... I can't believe I'm lucky enough to go to bed with him every night and wake up to him every morning. I also cleaned and cooked CONSTANTLY... now, not so much, lol. I clean once a week and cook like 3-4 times a week.

Aside from little things here and there, it was a smooth transition... I just don't know that I'll ever get over the fact that he clips his nails over the bathroom sink EVERY SINGLE DAY. other than that, it's cool.

With every guy I 'dated' in college, I would always run back to Joel. He and I dated on and off again for a little over 5 years. FH is the only man I've been with in the past 7 years that I didn't go running back to Joel for. I've never cheated on FH. I've never wanted to.

When FH and I first got together, Joel called me asking to come over. I told him no. After a while, he knew he had lost me. He called me and told me he regretted not being fully committed to me, because he knew I wouldn't come back and be with him. If I had gone to him, FH and I wouldn't be together at all. I would still be with Joel, on and off again, and never knowing if he was going to fully commit to us.
