Spin-off to wedding band post . . .

Spin-off to wedding band post . . .

FH and I have just started seriously looking at bands and the jeweler and FH are both trying to talk me out of doing an eternity band, which I've had my heart set on for some time. They said that if you gain weight, jam your finger, anything like that, its likely your ring would have to be adjusted - and an eternity band can't be adjusted. Is this right? So, FH and the jeweler said I should do a band with diamonds 3/4 of the way around, leaving a little leeway for future adjustments. Of course I always want to be able to wear my wedding band . . . your thoughts? I'm especially interested to hear from ladies with eternity bands.

Also - one of my bms has an eternity wedding band and says she wishes she hadn't . . . not making my decision any easier!!!!

Personally, I don't think an eternity band is worth it. Originally I wanted one too, then realized no one's going to see the diamonds on the bottom anyway, lol. Mine is about a half eternity, but since my fingers are so tiny, you can't tell the difference anyway.

I am personally not a fan of eternity band and i definitely think it is a good point that you would not be able to adjust it! really... who is going to see the part of the band facing down anyway?!!!!!

I just want to always be able to wear my wedding band because its symbolic! I could possibly get an eternity band for a future anniversary or something . . . that might be a good compromise. A nice right hand ring eternity band . . .

I am most likely doing 3/4 of the way. Since I am a lefty I really bang up my ring. My e-ring goes 3/4 too so I'd want them to match.

FH and I went to get our bands last week and I ran into the same problem! The saleswoman explained that if I gain weight , get pregnant, my hands swell etc... the ring will not be able to be adjusted. If you get it half or 3/4 you will be able to stretch it . If your really set on the eternity band you can get metal balls put inside of the ring and then remove them if your fingers swell. I think im going with the 3/4!
HTH good luck!

IMO I would get an eternity band for an anniversary or something so if you can't wear it everyday if you do gain weight, pregnancy, etc, I am doing a 1/2 way because my ring is only a diamond band where you see the diamonds if you get my jist...
