Spin off to: WERE YOU THE TYPE?

Spin off to: WERE YOU THE TYPE?

IS it true that when you get married you tend to hang out with your friends who are married more than your single friends?

Same question for the parents on here too? Do you hang out more with friends who have children because they understand more and can relate better than those who dont?

I think I stopped hanging out with my single friends all the time when I knew my fh was the one I wanted to marry because I just wasn't into going out all hours of the night to clubs anymore. I still hang out with them though, just not at the clubs! I love my couple friends too though, It's a whole nother type of connection

I hang out more with FH's married/engaged friends more then my single ones.. its partly b/c they are 1 hour further away but partly b/c my girls & guys (and bless their full of energy hearts) are alwyas going out on the town... i can't afford it now saving for the wedding, and with work stresses and just plain old regular stress im alwyas tired ...

I can see that once they settle down things will even out more.... i miss them oodles though! i do talk to them every few days jsut dont see them as much

Does that mean that after you and your FH are married they'll understand that maybe you cant hang out the same way you used to when you were engaged?

Most of my friends are married or getting married and that's who I hang out with most!!!

Me too. I still hang out with the people I'm close to, most aren't in serious relationships. We are friends because we like each other as people. As long as our friendships are not harmful to either of us then I will continue to be friends with the same people.

We don't have any kids and none of my close friends have kids either. I can see why people want to hang out with people who have kids close to their age but I doubt that will be an issue as FH is the uncle to 3 kids under age 4 (soon to be 4 kids) so we'll ne straight with the playmates when that time comes.

I think this depends on your friends and what the idea of 'fun' is in your group.

I am one of the last to get married. My friends were all the type to enjoy going out. We would do happy hour at a restaurant and then continue on and hang out at a bar. Sometimes we would take mini-trips upstate or skiing or wherever. Marriage did NOT change the love my friends had for this type of behaviour... so hanging out with them was never a problem.

When I was pregnant and subsequently had my eldest son - I felt VERY isolated from my friends. I couldn't drink, I didn't have the luxury of taking off for the weekend at a moment's notice. I no longer found great enjoyment in hanging out and getting drunk. I felt too old for that.

I would invite people over and we'd chill out with some music and some steaks and a few bottles of good wine. And then slowly but surely others got pregnant. And now - the majority of my friends are as old as I am! Nobody really loves the 'bar' scene anymore, so even my few single friends are more apt to hang out and barbecue or hit the beach for the day then to sleep all day and drink all night.

Most of my friends either have kids or are close to being married if they aren't married already. But the ones who are single, want to go run the streets till all hrs of the night. I just cant do that. So we tend to hang out less, we can do lunch but that's usually as far as it goes.

My group of friends is such a mix of single and married that we all are always together. So I would have to say no, maybe when we are married, but as for now no.

I am not sure. I think you'd tend to hang out more with couples, not necessarily married couples.

well it just so happened that after i got engaged all my friends jumped on the wagon too - Out of my six closest friends four are getting married around the same time and if for those who aren't enaged yet - it looks like its on the way soon for them.
