I am not sure yet I was initially going to do 75 DJ, 50 MC 50 Percussionist 30 for the Steel Drum guy he is only there for an hour, but I am thinking maybe it should be more?!?

$200 total for the Dj & MC, and then another $50 or $100 for the steel drum, he is with us the whole night.

i only have the one DJ...but he's the owner...still think i should tip him, but on the contract it says tipping is suggested and they say 15-20% that's like at least a $240 tip...is that a lot?

I had 4 people: the DJ, the mc, the lighting tech and the drum guy. I gave them all $100 each.

so then is $150 for just the DJ a good tip...too much...too little?

Edit...he's doing everything...ceremony - reception

I kind of feel like 240 is a lot...on top of what you are paying him ya know...

yeah that's what i was thinking...theknot.com ettiquette says $150 flat for DJ's, i'm paying 1600 for the whole thing ceremony, cocktail and reception...so is 10% enough? I think 15-20% is excessive...but i don't want to insult him either

1600 for the whole thing and he is the owner? I think 240 would be a lot of money for a tip for him. Maybe 150?

I was thinking $75-100 for the emcee, but he is the owner. Then $50-75 for the DJ, $50 for percussionist, lighting and plasma tv tech and $25 each for the ceremony musicians.

Does that sound right??

Re: spin off...tipping for DJ

I tipped them $50 each - we had a DJ and an MC. I did a google search the night before the wedding to figure out how much to tip everyone - that seemed to be the suggested amount amongst the various website I looked at.

i read 15% - 20% on my contracts too and i was like WOW!! lol.. i feel that is really a lot for what you already pay them!! i mean granted yes.. if they do an amazing job..they deserve a great tip.. but i feel for the DJ/MC anywhere from $75-$150 is sufficient.. i think we are planning on $75-$100 for the MC and $50-$75 for the DJ
