SPINOFF: Did you pick out your own e-ring?

Original post by marymoon

FH I went together..one day he picked me up from work...I worked across from the mall and he just led me to zales. I got some ideas there, but the stuff they had wasn't really the quality level we were looing for, so a few weeks later he took me to a jeweler (the same one who did my sister's e-ring), and we really picked it out...he tired to hide it, but he put down a deposit that day..but I didn't get it for another 4 months after that. I was really surprised!

i guess you can say YES (maybe)
i would take pics out of mags and leave them in his back pocket, underwear draw, his wallet
so he kinda knew what i wanted ..

but the sick thing is -he picked out my ring already and 4 days after he picked it up i showed him another ring.,AND THAT WAS THE RING HE GOT ME ..he got all mad cause he got the ring already and i was showing him rings still.. but how am i supposed to know he got it already lol --but it was the exact ring i showed him..mmm actually the pic had 2 prin cut side stones & mine has 3 .. everything else is the same lol

The only thing I told him was that it couldn't be gold. (I'm allergic!)... other than that, he picked it out all by himself and did an awesome job! Its exactly what I would have picked out for myself! I love it!

My FI and I went shopping so I could try on rings. I told him what I wanted Round center stone with baguettes on both sides 4 prong setting and platinum. I kept telling him over and over. Then one day we walked in BBB (Baily Banks and Biddle) I tried on a ring that was their and was in LOVE. I didn't want to take it off. I Loved it!!! FI told me that I was glowing as well as the salesman. It was a round stone 4 prongs and diamonds around my center stone and it was platinum with NO BAGUETTES. Which shocked me because that's what I always wanted. It was a Lineage Diamond (has to do with the facets on the diamond) I believe only available at BBB, it was just so beautiful. I didn't know I was going to get it until 2 weeks later. I LOVE my ring!!!

We went shopping together (I tricked him into going ) but he bought the actual ring on his own.

OK, I don't have one yet, but FH and I have been working together very closely to find the perfect one for us/his budget. I'm one of those girls who doesn't want to upgrade my ring, ever, so we are trying to put together EXACTLY what I want. We've done a lot of shopping around, and we've finally decided on what he'll buy, but as far as I know, he is still working on all the financials. It's not a large ring, not a very expensive ring, but it fits us perfectly, and I'll always remember how we worked TOGETHER to get it.

FI picked it out all by himself. All he knew is that I wanted a solitaire princess cut - and he found that out by having a friend ask me (while snowmobiling in Canada).....I had no idea she was asking for him.

That was one of the main reasons FH took me shopping too - I'm sentimental and he knew whatever he gave me would never leave my finger regardless - I'm not one of those upgrade girls either so he wanted to find the absolute perfect ring - he also is a very good saver, since he was fourteen he put all of his money working in a bank account originally saving for his dream car. He converted that fund into my engagement ring (don't worry it barely put a dent into it) now its our house/apartment fund.

Mystere- my FH was a HORRIBLE saver when he was young - blew everything on a car as soon as he turned 16. That changed when he met me, but college bills are very demanding!!! You've got a great man there!!

I looked on several websites. I wanted an antique setting. I sent him emails with pictures of the rings i would like, this was about a year ago. 2 months ago he surprised me with a ring that has an antique setting and round stone. It was a ring I would have never picked out b/c I would have thought it would have been too expensive. I almost hit the floor when I saw it .lol
It's the most beautiful ring I've ever seen.
