Spinoff: Do you like being part of a 'clique'?

Spinoff: Do you like being part of a 'clique'?

Either in 'real life' or on the boards.

Personally, I've never liked being part of a clique. I always found that I liked being social with so many different types of people that I floated from group to group and always ended up with a few close friends from each group. I always felt like I was limiting myself if I chose to stick with one group of people.

I only remember really being in a 'clique' in HS, and it was a very friendly co-ed group of people. We used to joke about being a clique, but weren't an exclusive group or anything. Even then, I had other groups of friends and my HS friends would get jealous when I wouldn't always hang out with them.

I guess that's how I've ended up having close friends from many different parts of my life, but no real 'group' of friends.

Even in school I was never part of a clique or group. I always had my frineds and hung out with who ever I got along with.

I'm the same way, Jackie. In HS, etc, I had my core group, but we were all so different, diff backgrounds, religions, etc, and I bounced around from group to group and had a lot of firneds, plus our group was always growing and changing and we ever left anyone out.

At my HS there was no 'popular' crowd, but there were a lot lot of groups based on certain characteristics, there were 'aSiAnZ' (not to be confused with the asians)m the goths, the theatre people, the russians, the black kids (all 8 of them), the kids who came from mark twain for Jr. high, the pot smoking kids, etc etc. but the groups for the most part were very fluid and people bounced around. There were afew groups that were 'exclusive' in some way,but none of the people I hung out with were like that, and if they got like that, I stopped hanging out with them.

I dont know if I am even in a clique!
LOL
I just know that when I meet a group of women that I respect and get along with, I tend to hang out with them the most.
I don't exclude people from said group but I stick by them because it takes me a while to warm up to people so when I do I have put a lot of time and effort into those people...ooh yeah and I fear change.
Does that make any sense?
Do I EVER make any sense?

i dont think i fall into any particular 'clique'--most of my closest friends are people from various different 'cliques' if that makes sense.

When I first starting working in the city, I was sort of part of a clique at work. Then one person left the company, then another, then another. When I was downsized in March I was pretty much alone. The company had changed so much that there weren't really any cliques I could see.

I've never been interested in being part of any clique - now or when I was in school. I hung out with all different types of people, I always liked diversity!

I went to a SMALL school! No one was popular. You had a group of friends and then you had acquaintances. You know the friends that you said Hey to but didn't talk to everyday! I am still like this in my Adult life! I am closer friends with some who I have met in person and talk to everyday. And the others I talk to on here. Im friends with everyone and like everyone. I don't see myself in a clique.

BTW not everyone agrees with everyone all the time. The people that I am close friends with here and the people that I am still friends with from High School don't all agree all the time either.

I also had a small group of friends that I hung out with in college...but, that was it really..

For the most part, I like to mix and mingle with all kinds of people..

I dont like being in a clique. All my life I had friends that were in different groups. At times when I was part of a big group I found that I was eventually let down if I put my trust into too many people so I like to stick to one on one type situations.

In high school and college I was and it had its positives and negatives. For me, it was nice to feel accepted, especially since middle school was such a social wasteland for me.

I work with some teachers who have been in this building for many years. It's fun to listen to them reminisce and they are all really tight still. Unfortunately, city schools have such a high turnover. I wish I had a group of work friends who were close to my age. It would make things much less stressful.

I was always a floater, and probably always will be. So I am friendly with different cliques, but I am not in them per se. I have some good friends from all over, and I like this better. This also means that if a friendship goes badly, there is less awkwardness because we didn't just put the rest of the group in the middle.

When I was in high school I liked it, I'm kind of over doing what the group thinks is best now though...

I have always been a bit of a floater and felt that being part of a clique limited you.
