I got a quote today froma VERY well known nyc band. FH and I wanted both DJ and band at our wedding (we already hired our DJ) Anyway this band wants to charge us $850.00 per bandmember, just acoustics and they will only be playing as my guests walk in and at meal times. I think this is is really high, is this normal price? They also wanted to charge me 850 for the guy who would play piano at my cocktail hour. Thats almost $1k for that hour!!!!!!!!!!!

I ma in the same boat as you. I have already hired a DJ and wanted a band to intertwine as well. The only one that I have found that is will to work with me is Soul Revival. Niteflight gave me a quote for half band/Dj that wasnt too bad either.

I responded to you in my last post and Eliana knows how I feel about this. I think that's high. Hank Lane is a pricey orchestra to begin with and $$$ doesn't necessarily mean that they are good.
I had Niteflight and I also had a DJ-The band played more than the DJ for my wedding, but they were so reasonable because they don't have a fancy office(s) and rent to pay on them. They work independently and book their own work. I had an excellent experience with them and had a blast at my wedding.
I know I'm baised, but that's just my take on the whole wedding band industry. I saw a lot of bands before I booked them and was completely flabbergasted at how much some of these bands charge.
While Hank Lane has a great reputation, they are on the high side.

$850 for one musician at your CH I think that is super expensive!!! I am using Soul Revival and they are much more reasonable than that...you could have around 3 musicians for your CH for that (less than that actually) Their website it www.soulrevivalband.com and they are a vendor on here too.
