Spinoff from Liz's twin thread...how big of a chance?

How big of a chance would you say we have? My husbands grandmother is a twin and his sister has twin boy and girl. Do you think we have a big chance of having twins as well? I have no idea about this stuff but we definately may need baby dust SOON!

Fraternal twins run on the mother's side only, and identical twins are a spontaneous occurance, so your chances aren't increased by your DH's family history. Sorry!

(I did a paper on twins in college and was fascinated by the research... it stuck in my brain, even after all of these years! )

I think its every third generations from mom's side.

For example:

My mom had twin children, and now my children, if they're female are more likely to have twin children

My grandpa's sisters were twins (so that means my great grandmother had twins) and now WE ARE HAVING TWINS so I think your chances are pretty good!!

GOOD LUCK!!!!

Sorry to correct you, but Noreen's chances are the same as anyone else's and are not increased because the twins are not on her side of the family.

True, it has to run on your side to have them. My BIL has twin aunts but my SIL had twins on her side, so yes it was there on both sides but she has to release the 2 eggos!!
