Yes.

I do think it should be done tactfully and discreetly.

This subject is controversial for me. I know it's natural, and it's a very beautiful thing, but my two experiences with women doing this in public have been:

1. A friend whips her boob out at a funeral, and breast feeds her child in a chapel RIGHT in front of the casket. I just didn't think this was necessary.

2. A friend whips her boob out at an engagement party, which was in a backyard at a friends house, with 65 ppeople there, while we were sitting in a circle chatting, men, women, and children everywhere.

In both cases, I was not the only person put off by it.

I think it's fine as long as there is SOME discretion involved. I understand that sometimes as a mommy you are forced to do it at inopportune moments, but there is a way to do it discretely without making everyone feel uncomfortable.

JMHO.

absolutly. It is a natural thing, I don't understand why people have a problem with it, but I agree it should be discreet if at all possible.

I think it's just fine to do it in public but I also think maybe some discretion is advisable. NOT at a funeral, I don't think that is appropriate. If you must feed, excuse yourself. But otherwise, I really think it's just fine. I'm very liberal.

As long as it isn't done in an offensive way, it's normal should be allowed.

I dont think it should be done out in OPEN public.. my SIL did this in the middle of my baby shower and i think alot of people found this uncomfortable..

Oh, I should add, that when someone commented to her about doing it in the chapel, she started an 'I am woman hear me roar' argument about how it's a natural thing and no one should ever comment...yada yada yada. It was very obnoxious. There was a dead man 10 feet away.

I think a woman has the right to breast feed her baby in public but not if they are standing online in the grocery store and they just whip it out. … I used to work for Gapkids and we always lets the mothers breast feed in the dressing room.. It also gives them some privercy.. I once sawa woman walking around with a baby in a sling and her breast was hanging out so when ever the babay was hungry she just moved it to his month... I would want a little privecy...JMO

NO!!

My sister breast feed for 6 months and I thought it was amazing, but to do it out in public where people are NOT used to this or do not undestand the beauty of it is not in my taste appropriate.

I plan on breast feeding, but I once saw this women on the F train doing it. She didn't even have her boob covered. her shirt was tucked under her arm! I'm sorry...there are so many sicko's out there...do you really want them seeing you feed your child and taking a natural, beautiful act and getting off on it???

Hmm...
I agree with most, it's natural and it's a beautiful thing. I plan to BF my baby one day.

BUT I do think a certain amount of discretion would be nice. Whipping it out in the street, at your table at a wedding, on line at the supermarket, or on a park bench doesn't seem so natural or HYGENIC to me at all !!!!!

I agree with Misty! Some discretion is always necessary. I don't think it is appropriate when other people are made uncomfortable.

sure, but I would want privacy for sure....

and as long as the kid isn't 6, as I have seen on the subway. No joke, the kid walked over, lifted the shirt, and stood there feeding himself as if he had just sauntered up to a drinking fountain....

Totally agree with Misty! Do it descreetly!

Once I was at a reataurant and this woman whips out her boob and starts breast-feeding, no blanket no nothing!

I though I was going to throw up! So did a few other people!

I don't have a problem with it, however, some people do - so knowing that, I think it is fine as long as it's not thrown in your face.
