SPINOFF - How many people make more then their DH?

This was on the Today show this morning about how more working woman make more money then their husbands. If you do make more, how does that affect your DH?

I'll start....I don't make more then DH but we make around the same amount. I don't think it is an issue with him but there is no way he would leave his job to raise kids at home while i worked (if i made more money). To much of a shot to his ego.

We are right around the same amount, but when I finish my doctorate I'll be making considerably more (he only has a bachelor's and is not going on for more). Work is not a huge priority to him, which I sometimes resent, but I just don't think he is that driven in terms of work. He also mentioned that he would love being a SAHD. We'll see if he changes his tune after seeing some dirty diapers (far, far in the future!).

Throughout our whole relationship, I have always made more than DH (at least 15K). Although he says it doesn't bother him, but I think it does. I got laid off in Jan and decided not to go back to work until after the baby is born. He made a comment like 'I'm going to enjoy it while I can bc I make more money than you now'

But I'm sure he'll make more than me when he graduates law school next May.

I make more than DH & in the begining he would make silly comments about it but he's never cared. It's going to same pocket anyway.

I'll make more than him for the first 2 years that we're married, and then when he gets his EDs he'll make more than me.

we made almost exactly the same when we started dating, but now he makes more than me. He always jokes when this comes up & he says he has no problem with me making more money than him.

As it is , I feel guilty, b/c not onyl do I earn less, I work more hours & have a longer commute, so I feel that he makes more, spends less (on commuting), does the grocery shopping & laundry, so I kinda feel like a free-loader sometimes.

Though DH is about to get a promotion/raise and he'll be about equal to me in salary at that point -

The difference with us is also the fact that I work in Manhattan and he is on LI - if he was doing the same job in NYC, he'd definitely be making more than me

Its never been an issue with us, and never will be - we are a team after all

We work for the same company and both started as interns. Our whole careers have flipped back and forth as far as who gets the next promotion and who makes more money.

He got the first promotion from intern to full-time, but I got promoted to manager first. Right now I make $2k more a year than him, but he's on a much faster track to be a director given his function than I am.

I want him to make more than me and get the Director job so I can take time off when we finally get pregnant and not be so strapped.

I make more than DH but I have been at my job longer. He finished his PhD five years ago but I have been working for closer to ten. If he chooses to leave his teaching job he would make more than me.

I made more than JT up until he took this new job. Now he makes a considerable amount more than me.

I do but he had way less debt coming into the marriage so it always seems like he made more. Now that our money is comined it doesnt make a difference. We are working together toward the same goals.

When I was working, I made less than DH. When I find another job, I will probably make less. It is just the industry I chose to be in. Very low paying

Same here... For me this is all compounded by the fact that I am 4 years younger than DH and about an average of 5 years younger than his friends and their wives. It seems like everyone is so ahead of us in terms of careers, but when I think about it, if I had 5 years more experience, I would expect to be making more money!!!

We're in the same situation. However, once he finishes his Master's in June, he'll have an opportunity to make as much if not more than me depending on which job he gets.

He makes more money than me and thats completely fine with me! As long as the bills are paid and we are able to live comfortably I dont care where the $$$ comes from
