Spinoff of afterlife post.....how faithful are you?

To avoid offended anyone by asking if you believe in G-d.....but...where do you stand in your FAITH in WHATEVER you happen to believe in??

I have no faith, I don't beleive in god, and I don't believe in the after life.

any particular reasons ladies?? I was born Jewish, never really practiced and now feel more at home with FH in his church...but as far as faith....I try to keep it high....as long as you have faith in something or someone (even your FH or DH) it keeps me going when times are rough

I believe strongly in my beliefs.

Those beliefs just don't happen to follow those of any particular 'faith' or religion'

So I'll just say Im faithful to my own beliefs.

My 'faith' is in being a good person and trying to do the right thing.

Exactly. You don't have to be religious to be faithful.

It's an RCA church...

and for you other ladies....yes...when I meant faith in anything...it can just be in a way to live your life like you all mentioned. It's interesting to see the trend in religious beliefs versus those that don't believe in organized religion and prefer to have their own agenda on how to live their life.

Re: Spinoff of afterlife post.....how faithful are you?

I was raised methodist and was just so put off by what I feel is the hipocrisy of organized religion that I decided it wasn't for me. I try to be a good person to others for myself and society, not for any reason concerning religion or how it will effect me in my afterlife (since I don't believe there is one).

Reformed Church of America...I think it's part of the Dutch Reform...they tend to be a little Calvinistic (John Calvin)

I was raised Roman Catholic, made my communion, and confirmation, but my views go so against the RCC, that it has made me sick about religion.

IMHO, I think someone wrote a great novel, and people decided to follow it.

Love it!!

I get all sorts of hell for talking badly about the bible and one of my favorites is the belief that the Catholics wrote their own book.

I love this .. I gotta use this quote more often!

hehe

I'm an atheist - partly b/c I wasn't raised with religion....while those of you are familiar with it being true...I am the opposite...I was raised that it wasn't true...

Don't all religions have their own 'books' so to speak? Rules/laws/etc...That someone wrote and/or drew up which people could choose to or choose not to follow?

I always say the bible was written by a MAN not God himself so I can't buy into it...

I've always been conflicted - catholic mother (uncle was a priest), jewish father who converted to buddhism...the catholics (in my family) preaching a whole lot but not practicing much...the jewish side rejecting me because I'm not jewish 'enough'

So my faith is weak...and I feel guilty about that all the time. Religion has always been a big (or dramatic) issue in my life.

and my wedding has been no exception.

Yes and most of them (not trying to generalize there) think THEIRS and ONLY THEIRS is the true and right 'one' book.
It really is very funny.

Look at the Mormons. They have never said that the companion book they talk about is the bible. They read and follow the bible but no one cares. They are generalized that they have a different 'bible'.

ANyway.. I get into these 'discussions' (shall we call them that) and people get very bent out of shape about 'their' bibles.
