Spinoff of my 'I'm freaking out' post - How big a role does your wedding play in your life as a whole?
I kinda had a rude awkening today to the fact that yes, I am obsessed with my wedding, and it is affecting my performance at work. I am not that proud to be admitting it, but it's true nonetheless.
My question for everyone else who's here (especially the peeps I see on here during the day when we're all most likely at work)...
Does planning the wedding and being on this site affect any other aspect of your life, be it work, relationships with FH/DH/Family, etc?

I can honestly say that I relate EVERYTHING to the wedding day or marriage. I would say at least five times a day I say 'when we are married,' or 'at our wedding.' I'm pathetic!!

Hmm it comes and goes...Depending on how busy my week is. But on the whole it is my life right now....

i'm with oct.2004bride. there are days when it is all consuming and days when i have other things i must put my attention to. it has calmed down since we have everything booked. however, since i have a lot of free time now, i am on this friggin sight allllllll day long and i am getting nothing done.

I have to admit the wedding has consumed pretty much every aspect of my life. It is weird as much as it has been 'the moment' I have been waiting forever, I sometimes need a break, because it gets obsessive.

Same here. Having a lot of deadlines at work, sometimes I just don't have time to think about anything else but what I'm working on.

I've noticed that everything in my life (for the most part) DOES revolve around wedding planning of some sort .. I spend FAR too much time on here, esp. at work .. and in the evenings, when I should just go to sleep.
However I'm trying to lighten up a bit.. once I got the 'big stuff' booked, I told myself I would take a step back, and I've tried to. Luckily I've been SO swamped at work that its prevented me from thinking about wedding-related issues TOO much.
Its like a double-edge sword, though.. if I DON'T spend enough time thinking of wedding stuff, I feel like I'm falling behind! Sometimes I see you girls and how much planning you do in advance, and I start to panick!

It did in the end.... the thing is, I didn't want it to be... whenever I woudl meet with friends & go out, they would all ask me about the planning. What stinks is that now that the wedding is over, they forgot how to talk to me! They keep asking me stuff like... how was the HM... when will you get you album... when will you get the video. I understand the anticipation for some of them, but ask me once, not once a day!

sometimes, but one reason may be that we're planning it in less than 8 months so there isn't much of a choice not to talk about it.
but I really try and not to let if affect work - I do stuff at home.

Oddly enough..
Only AT work. I have a clerical type job so LIW gives me an excuse not to work.
Actual wedding thoughts.. pretty much when Im not freaking out about not having money for the wedding I think about what I can do with the money I have 'for' the wedding.
So half and half. but technically all wedding tied in.
I have to work hard and shine here to make more money... for the wedding.. ive been rearranging our bank accounts and budgets...for the wedding.. I've been thinking up new plans and ways to cut costs...for the wedding.. I worry about my physical therapy progress for really the first time ever because I want to survive ... the wedding.. I've been working out all of our travel over the next 9 months to purcure more American miles.. for the wedding.. I've been figuring out Gas, food and other charges and how they can earn miles as well.. for the wedding.
I get home and I'm exhausted. Work and Physical therapy, money managment and LIW at the office.. Hence you don't see me on much at home.. or only really late after dinner, shower and tv.
I get tired just thinking about what I have to think about. Wedding? Bah.. what ISNT related to the wedding in my life?

It's definitely affecting my work productivity! I can cover REALLY well!
How can an event you dreamed of all of your life not consume your life when you're finally able to make that dream come to fruition??

Here is a ray of hope from the other side...I was just emailing about this w. another newlywed. This time a year ago, I was consumed w. all things wedding, and wanting our day to be as perfect as it could be. And it was truly the best day of both of our lives. And now, I hardly ever think about it LOL. Its amazing to think that something that was SO important to me a year ago faded into the background so quickly. If you had told me a year ago that 5 months would go by before I even thought about my wedding album, after obsessing for months over the perfect photographer, I would have said you were crazy...but now I have to force myself to work on that album
The best part about after the wedding is getting to focus on your future (beyond the one day) with your DH. Its all SO worth it
