*Spinoff* of my own post: Is numbering the back of response cards important?

Original post by nov2004bride

I stuffed all my invites bu they are not sealed yet. Should I number the back of the response cards? Does it really help? TIA

Yes! There will be that one person who doesn't put their name on the response. Definitely number them!

I started doing it but I am taking a break. I have 158 invitations and I am getting hand cramps

I did it and I think it's worth the time invested. It also made it easier to check them off on the RSVP list because I could look up the guests by number rather than name.

But, I also got someone who wrote their name and the number of guests attending atrociously AND CUT OFF THE BOTTOM of the RSVP (so no number!) card for some strange reason. There's always someone who finds a a way to screw it up.

I'm debating it. It might be helpful, but it is a little anal. JMHO.

The woman I got my invitations from advised us not to do it. She felt that the person with card number 102 might be insulted that they were not a lower number! She did say that f you are going to do it, start at a crazy number like 640 so the guests will not know.

Tht's intersting. I did it rally small & lightly, so I don't think most people would noitce. I don't think most guests knew I only sent out 55 invites, so hopefully most of them don't think they are they high up the list, if they did see the number.

And if anybody asked, I'd tell them it was alphebetical, which is was for the most part.

So far, I haven't had to consult the numbers, (I've gotten about half my invites back) but I have a feeling if I didn't do it, there would definitely people a few people who didn't put names.

We did it, and I'm glad we did. We had the blank style response cards, where there isn't a line for people to write their name, just a large space to write any message they want. We got one or two that said 'I will not be attending' with no name. I also had a few friends who jokingly commented on the number, but to my knowledge, no one took offense.
