Spinoff of the 'Last Minute Cancellations'

What do you do in this scenario?
Do you tell the Reception hall less people when you tell them your final count? Or do you tell the correct amount and then call them and tell them you had cancellations?

Please help!

We gave our hall about 8 people less, if I remember correctly. We had about that many not show up!!!! It worked out perfectly for us.

We did this for our eparty. FMIL did the seating so when we gave the final number 4 of my friends didn't have a table! I couldn't split them up either. We had 4 no-shows but they were at 2 different tables. The hall was great and helped put together a smaller table for them. But still at the last minute we were

You're really playing with fire if you do that...what if no one cancels at the last minute? If your RH is ok with scrambling at the last minute to set up more chairs and/or tables (8 people is an entire table!), then you can do that.

You might be safer saying 2 or 3 fewer peopl, because if you have no cancellations, then 2 or 3 people is easier to accomodate (if you've left some space at a couple of tables) than 8

if you have cancellations after you paid and gave headcount then youjust have to S*CK it up unfortunately...Some will throw in extras to make up for it but not always the case.

For my e-party i lost out on $1k bc of this, cant dwell on it and cant do anything about it.

for our RH, when we gave them our final headcount, that became our new guaranteed min, meaning we had to pay for that many people. luckily we only had 2 no shows, then our DJ showed up w/ a 4th person, so only we really only paid for 1 1/2 extra people. if you end up lowballing the # to your RH, and everyone shows up, that's extra $$ you'll have to pay day of.

I would tell them 3-5 less then you are actually have.

if you plan right for it it won't be a problem it just takes little thought and planning.

i wouldnt lie

i know with my hall when i told them that people had canceled - i had to tell them what tables they were sitting at

so if i was lying, there is a chance that a table would be a chair or two short! that would be a horrible first impression for one of your guests

PLUS do you really want any unfinished business the DAY of your wedding, where you have to make sure you remember to say oh three more people are coming now?

Our RH sat down with us this past Tuesday to finalize the count pretty much- we know we're under so we didn't bother upping or lower the count knowing this- we still have to let them know the correct counts for the tables though and we can do this up until 10pm the night before the wedding so if anyone cancels or whatnot we at least can do that much.
