I was trying to figure out how to transport guests who are from OOT from the hotel to the reception so they wouldn't have to worry about finding their way. I was looking into getting a shuttle service from the hotel and back.
One of my co-workers said that she would never expect someone to shuttle her around, and that I should just put some information in the gift bags that the OOT guests will receive on taxi services in the area. She said that most people would just expect to be driving, and that they would probably be happy I shared the taxi info with them.
Do you think that would be tacky? Do you think guests will be annoyed that I didn't provide transportation?

Its a nice thing to do, but we decided to just pay for the shuttle for our guests. It just made it easier.

I think if you are going to be at the Jericho Terrace, you might as well book the Wingate as a hotel.
You will get a shuttle with your 15 rooms (but that is only for 15 people, so you'll have to add on to make room).
So, for an investment of a couple of hundred dollars, you will have provided a shuttle to those who need it.

I've never thought of this (excellent) option...but now that you got the wheels turning ;) I'm wondering if you can call up local taxi companies and get them to give you a discount for your guests...maybe they can give you a 'promo code' or something which you can put in your OOT boxes.

I think that is a good idea. All my OOTers are driving here, so they will have cars. But they will have the option to take a cab if they think they will need it.

I am considering doing this. But I was thinking, the hotel front desk can easily help people get a taxi, and here may even be info in the rooms. At for after the wedding, my matre D says he knows which taxis to call.

I wanted to provide transportation as well-but I agree that it is not our responsibility-I would never expect someone to provide a ride for me no matter where the wedding was..hook me up with some info on the area YES but that is all....

Re: Spinoff on my earlier 'guest transport' question
We are providing shuttle service for us guests just to make sure everyone has a good time & does't get behind the wheel thinking they are ok. Although my hotel didn't provide transportation my FH & I decided it was worth the money to have a shuttle make as many trips as it needed to get people back & forth & to have one at the end of our reception. It also gives us a way as well as our BP a way to get to the hotel after the reception.
I agree we didn't have to do it or would I expect it in any way as a guest but I think it is a nice added thing to do if you have the money.

i called a few town car services near my venue and was able to arrange for a discount pickup/dropoff service for my guests so they can call if necessary. definitely check with your hall or the hotel to see if they have a list of companies they recommend

Re: Spinoff on my earlier 'guest transport' question
I think a shuttle service would be nice. Many people probably would not take a cab, and regardless, cabs are always late. I saw most people said it is nice to provide them with cabs in the area, and where that is nice and a great gesture, I think there is more of a chance of people not driving if you provide the shuttle.... and i think a shuttle is also a thank you for coming from out of town to spend our day with us, throw your feet back and dont worry about driving.

Excuse me-But since when are shuttle services tacky???Some of those buses are super nice...and after a night of drinking and partying nothing is nicer than getting a ride back. Yes, there are those who will want to drive themselves, but isnt it nice to have the option? I will be providing shuttle services to and from my reception site...And many many of the weddings I have to, have done the same
