How do you/your FH feel about in-vitro if you have trouble conceiving?
Let's try to be calm about responses here - I know some people are adamantly against this b/c of religious views and other things.
My sister is completey unable to conceive naturally and her two pregnancies have been in-vitro. If I can't conceive naturally, I would do this before adoption, without a doubt. However, my FH is dead set against it... not bc of religion, but just because he feels like it's 'unnatural' and not meant to be. I am praying it doesn't come to it because who knows what we'll do...
You?

Re: Spinoff to Adoption...
I feel like there are so many children in the world who need a loving family, why not adopt at this point? Of course, to each his own. I'd never rain on somebody's parade for using in-vitro.
Also, I'm scared of it. I don't know why. Probably just because it's newer and I don't fully understand it and the drugs and hormones that go with it.

Ita.
But then again this is coming from a person who isn't there yet re: having kids so my opinion could always change.

I would def do this before adoption as well.
There's also another procedure that you can do, where you take hormone pills and then they 'squirt' the sperm into you. I'd also do that before adoption.
I wonder why he wouldn't go for in vitro? I wonder if he'll change his tune if the doctor says it's like a 90% conception rate or something?

as long as i don't end up like kate gosselin and octomom i'm fine with it. i'd be a little nervous tho bc i wouldn't want more than twins but i don't know that i could ever remove some of them

Re: Spinoff to Adoption...
We are having a difficult time conceiving, so we are in the middle of the process with our doctor. So the last resort will be In-vitro, then adoption.

Possibly... I don't know enough about it. I want to know about all the risks, etc. before going into it.

Re: Spinoff to Adoption...
i feel like i dont know enough about it to say yes or no. i know very little about it besides what the actually definition of the procedure is.
but with knowing as little as i do about it, i might still want to adopt first before trying but then again, i should know more about all angles.

Re: Spinoff to Adoption...
For FH and I, we aren't sure about if we want kids yet. We both waver back and forth on it.
If we decide to have kids, he's very much interested in adoption, and I'm kind of freaked out by most medical procedures so I can't see us going the in-vitro route if we couldn't conceive. Moreso out of our own comfort than anything else.

I definitely think I would do in-vetro and I think FH would be for it as well. His aunt has been trying conceive and tried in-vetro and FH seemed supportive of it.

I am just afraid of the hormones you need to inject into yourself during the in vitro process. other than that, FH and I would try if need be.

I don't want to speculate too much about what I absolutely would do, but suffice to say I will keep ALL my options open and explore as needed
