We said.. ehhhh well $1500 is a bit too steep.. we had $1k in mind... we got it for $1100.

Everything I negotiated on I would say 'is that the best price you can give me?' or 'Are you offering any discounts' or 'Another vendor said they could do it for X, can you match that?'
It worked a good 80% of the time!
