Spinoff to Bluegreen's post, response cards

Spinoff to Bluegreen's post, response cards

I was thinking about this the other day, what if both parents contributed some money and we are paying for a majority of it ourselves?

FH and I. We dont live at home., I dont see why it should go to either parent if they contributed or are paying for everything. JMO

personally i am not going by whose paying is the person who receives the card...my parents were on the invitation for e-party but i put fh's name and address for response cards, its me who is doing all that so thats why...also i never sit there and think oh no why did i receive an invite with one person hosting but im sending rsvp elsewhere, most of the time i dont even really look that closely at the envelope im sending RSVP with.

So yeah BOTH our parents will be on the invite but we'll receive the rsvp

This is our situation. The response cards are going to us (we live together).

So it isn't taboo to write

Mr. Joseph F & Danielle D

on the responce card?

i think you should get the response cards because your doing the seating, unless your parents are also planning on calling the people who don't rsvp - I know I'll have a spreadsheet all set up to check off who rsvps... we're paying for it all ourselves but not sure that should matter in this case

you're giving the parents kudos on the actual invitation - I would go NUTS if the response cards got sent to my mom

Ok, that seems to be the consensus. We also live together, so that would make sense.

I just didn't want my landlord to see the RSVP's coming in b/c we aren't inviting her.

Nope., matter of fact FH lives with me but at the time we purchased the invites he didnt so I just have my name on the response card.

honestly i never even thought about these things when i received invitations, i just signed and sent back, and i guarantee most people wont'...i follow etiquette for some things but personally i dont see the point in this one. Even when parents contribute the bride still plans it

I don't think it's taboo. FH & I will be living together right before our wedding and we'll be getting the response cards and it will have both our last names on it.

You should have your own mailbox.

Well, I just wanted to check to see if there was a right or wrong way to do it. I thought there was so much more etiquette when it cam to invites... Maybe I'm just thinking old school.

we aren't even allowed to have a lock on the connecting door and you want me to have my own mailbox!!!

trust me, if we could afford to move tomorrow, we would, but with the wedding in less than a year, we just can't

Don't put your names, just put your address. FH's friend did this. If the address/mailbox is yours, then the name isn't actually necessary.

some of the things i understand, such as Mr or Ms, some get mad if you don't do that. Its annoying but yeah there is alot of invitation etiquette, but to be honest i dont remember seeing much of this so not sure if they say its proper or not for rsvp cards to go to the person hosting, but then again ppl now put their parents names on the card regardless if the parents are paying for the wedding or not.

That is true. Even if our parents weren't contributing, I'd put them on the invite. PERSONALLY, I think it is respectful. But to each their own.
