Ladies getting married at church - are you bringing in outside musicians or having whatever they provide? Not sure what to do here. Love the idea of a string trio or quartet, but don't know if its worth the $$ for the ceremony only. Thoughts? TIA!

We are going to have strings at the church instead of the organ.

Re: Spinoff to canon in d -
My church can have outside musicians. I was 100000% set on having them. BUT.. after looking at the budget, and even though I got an awesome price through someone I went to HS with, I think i'm going to skip it. I'd rather put the $ towards uplighting.
But we'll see what the budget looks like once we get a little closer.

Re: Spinoff to canon in d -
not worth to spend the money for especially since I would have to pay both the church musicians and the outside musicians.

I wanted to have another group of musicians instead of the organ, but the church makes us pay the organist even if we don't use them!! So I don't know what I'm going to do!

DITTO! We have to pay for their organist whether we use them or not so might as well use 'em!

Re: Spinoff to canon in d -
we are using the organist that comes with the Church. it would end up being an extra expense that i didn't factor in & its just not in the cards.

Re: Spinoff to canon in d -
We priced out a string quartet/trio and at $600+ it just wasn't in our budget, so we're going with the organist at the church. We are going to have a bagpiper play as guests enter the church and the I think for our recessional.

I am bringing in my own vocalist and organist, but nothing more than that. I think having live musicians there makes it all the more beautiful. If it's something you like, I think it is worth the splurge.. the ceremony is the most important part of the day (IMO) and that would just make it more romantic and magical.
