Spinoff to DMV name change question

Does anyone know if there's a character limit on last names? I ask because I am considering adding my FH's last name to my last name (no hyphen) so that legally I'd have both last names.

Either that or add my maiden last name to my middle name and have 2 middle names.

Anyone know if either of these is possible legally (DMV etc)? Thanks!

It won't fit. My new last name and my first name could NOT fit on the license, so they had me sign my new last name for the signature portion, but then took my first initial of my first and middle, wrote out my last name due to space constraints.

To add your maiden name to your middle name, you'd have to go to court and have your name legally changed, it's a bit of a pain, my friend at work looked into doing it and decided it wasn't worth it.

I'm not sure though on your other question.
