I hit a kind of low point this year when my sister was in the hospital. She has a condition called AVM, which means that the arteries and veins in her brain are kind of twisted and they can get weak and she has brain hemorages. she had one last year and was in the hospital for two weeks, but it wasn't that bad. She had another one this April and it was REALLY bad. she was in a coma in ICU for over a week and connected to a million machines. Since her docter is in New Haven, I stayed there at a hotel while my parents took care of her daughter. Being there by myself and wondering if she was going to live or die was just horrible. All of that was compounded by the fact that I almost broke things off with FH because I didn't feel like he was being there for me and my family. Not that it's an excuse, because it's not, but at first he didn't realize how bad things were and when he did he was much better. He would drive all the way up there to take me to eat and then he would go home to take care of our dog. My sister was in the hospital again in August, but it wasn't as bad as April.

Oh Shana!! First of all,

Second of all, yes, I have had what I hope is my darkest moment. The longest moment in history - lasted over a year. There's a lot I can go into (over FM if you like) but essentially, I want to echo what someone else said. Please seek some help. You do not have to feel this way!! You have gone through major stressors recently - moving being the culmination of all of them. It is not unusual for your brain's chemistry to be unsettled because of this. Please please please feel free to FM me at any time to talk - trust me, I have been there!!

Third of all, my sister did something very similar to you and your DH. She got married here in NY (where she lived her whole life in my mom's house) and she and my BIL moved to Georgia the day after the wedding. The only people they knew down there were BIL's brother and wife. My sister had a very hard time in the beginning, it was really rough going for a while. But, that was 1989. They've been down there now for 15 years and love it. Point is, 'this too shall pass' and you'll definitely be on to bigger and better things, I promise.

A couple more for good measure

Thank you! She had a radiation treatment last year that can take up to 3 years to work. They think that it's started to work, which is why she had the two bleeds only a few months apart. But because of all of this, she suffers from really bad headaches. She could have brain surgery, but because of where the AVM is in her brain it's an extremely risky procedure. she stands about a 60% chance of losing the mobolity on the right side of her body, and also runs the risk of losing some of her memory, speach and vision.
We're all just praying that the radiation works and doesn't do too much damage in the meantime. Unfortunately, it's a scary thing to live with that she really does have the potential to die from this at any time. It sacres the crap out of me. My sister is my best friend, and my neighbor, and I can't imagine my life without her.

Thank You! I was in therapy for awhile before the wedding (started when DH and I took a 'break') and then I up and move.....bad choice, but there wasn't really a choice!
