Maybe it was the highlights they gave Dawson, or his floppy mop hair...He was much better in Varsity Blues. I knew someone who went to high school with him--they called him James VanDerGeek.

Agreed about VB...and OF COURSE they called him Van der Geek - why wouldn't you???? It's just a given!!!

Also, the dialogue on that show was just ridiculous! It was so affected and it made them sound really stupid! I think it was supposed to come off as clever, but really it just made me think WOW, these are some BAAAAD actors!

Oh, and PS: Beth, Pacey? Manly?

I totally agree about the dialogue. The first time I ever watched DC, the very first episode, my freshman year of college, I said 'This is so stupid!' Little did I know that I'd own the DVDs and still be watching it in reruns on TBS...

Farah, I have to agree with Beth. Dawson had a little lady in him. With Pacey you could tell he'd never had sexual fantasies about his male friends.

Also, Pacey and Joey balanced each other much better. Dawson just over-analyzed the minutiae and was incapable of dealing with a romantic relationship that didn't involve drama, unrequited love or Steven Spielberg.

And the floppy hair. Squicky.

Ok, maybe I jsut liked the hot bartender.

And Pacey WAS more masculine than Dawson. He sailed & got in fights & had sex with a teacher!

Oh, don't get me wrong, I think they were all absurdly precocious teenagers with a boat, way too absorbed in dissecting their adolescent lives to actually have adolescent lives......and to be honest I'm not sure that any of them were capable of dealing with anything beyond drama, unrequited love or Steven Spielberg...but I wouldn't go describing Pacey as MANLY (that doesn't mean that I do describe Dawson as manly either)

AND, by the way, Joey was just a Camden in disguise anyway - she was on the wrong show!!!!

But, as far as her 'choice' went...well, the show wasn't called 'Pacey's Creek' now was it????

So Dawson is the least manly of 2 unmanly characters? I'll concede to that.

I did not see any kind of sexual chemisty between Joey and Dawson. Pacey was the one with all the wild girlfriends, a real lady's man.

I remember watching the news on ch 11 after the series finale and they actually covered 'Dawson v Pacey' at people's finale parties!!!

And as far as their vocabulary... ugh. Say 'like' and 'whatever' - you're 16 for god's sake!!!!

i also quickly got addicted and wanted joey and dawson to end up together from the first episode

I watched EVERY SINGLE DAWSON, never missed an episode, until the FINALE!!! I MISSED THE FINALE!!!

I never really found out what happened, just know that Joey ended up with Pacey. I liked that - Dawson was oh-so-annoying.

OMG I totally wanted to get stuck in Walmart after that!!!! And in the morning when they went to ring up the PJs and condoms and one was missing!!!! And eating the slurpees and popcorn!
