Just wanted to share this email I got with all of you: IT HAS BEEN CALCULATED THAT IF EVERYONE IN THE UNITED STATES AND CANADA DID NOT PURCHASE A DROP OF GASOLINE FOR ONE DAY AND ALL AT THE SAME TIME, THE OIL COMPANIES WOULD CHOKE ON THEIR STOCKPILES.
AT THE SAME TIME IT WOULD HIT THE ENTIRE INDUSTRY WITH A NET LOSS OF OVER 4.6 BILLION DOLLARS WHICH AFFECTS THE BOTTOM LINES OF THE OIL COMPANIES.
THEREFORE SEPTEMBER 1st HAS BEEN FORMALLY DECLARED 'STICK IT TO THEM ' DAY AND THE PEOPLE OF THESE TWO NATIONS SHOULD NOT BUY A SINGLE DROP OF GASOLINE THAT DAY.
THE ONLY WAY THIS CAN BE DONE IS IF YOU FORWARD THIS E-MAIL TO AS MANY PEOPLE AS YOU CAN AND AS QUICKLY AS YOU CAN TO GET THE WORD OUT.
WAITING ON THE GOVERNMENT TO STEP IN AND CONTROL THE PRICES IS NOT GOING TO HAPPEN. WHAT HAPPENED TO THE REDUCTION AND CONTROL IN PRICES THAT THE ARAB NATIONS PROMISED TWO WEEKS AGO?
REMEMBER ONE THING, NOT ONLY IS THE PRICE OF GASOLINE GOING UP BUT AT THE
SAME TIME - AIRLINES ARE FORCED TO RAISE THEIR PRICES, TRUCKING COMPANIES ARE FORCED TO RAISE THEIR PRICES WHICH EFFECTS PRICES ON EVERYTHING THAT IS SHIPPED. THINGS LIKE FOOD, CLOTHING, BUILDING MATERIALS, MEDICAL SUPPLIES ETC. WHO PAYS IN THE END? WE DO!
WE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE. IF THEY DON'T GET THE MESSAGE AFTER ONE DAY, WE WILL DO IT AGAIN AND AGAIN.
SO DO YOUR PART AND SPREAD THE WORD. FORWARD THIS EMAIL TO EVERYONE YOU KNOW. MARK YOUR CALENDARS AND MAKE SEPTEMBER 1ST A DAY THAT THE CITIZENS

Yeah, but don't you think that if we don't buy gas tomorrow, adn they do lose a lot of money, that they'll just raise the prices again? I mean, not for nothing, but you HAVE to buy gas at some point. Not to discourage anyone or anything. Just another side of it.

I don't know.... There is something else behind these gas prices than the just the hurricane. They were already rising out of control before Katrina hit, it just sped things up a bit. I am not exactly sure what it is, but something isn't kosher.

Yeah, I got an email like this a year or so ago and it doesn't really make sense. Everyone will just race to get gas today or get gas the day after. With time changes and all it balances itself out in a few days. You would have to not buy gas for like a week for this to be effective. Not to be a downer
Go for it if you want. It can't hurt!

I spoke to my father about this (I always ask him financial ques. and he told me this can not work. As Rachel said, you have to buy gas, and it will be the next day, or the day after. 1 day of buying no gas, even if it's a lot of people will not matter. You have to buy it another day!!!

this is like the chain emails that say jesus will not love you if you don't forward this to at least 20 people. its all propaganda and to encourage it is worse than the person who started this.

I read to try to avoid the big guys - Mobil and Exxon cause they supposedly control the prices. I don't know if that is true but I always use Hess anyways
