Spinoff to How Many Children

What do you think about couples having a child for the purpose (or so it seems) of helping a sick child they already have?
A few years back there was a big thing in the news about a local couple having a baby to help their teenage daughter who had a rare cancer. THere needed to be a genetic bone marrow match and they had another child, hoping it would be a match. I don't remember what happened, but I do remember it was a big controversy.

I don't get the controversy. I think there have been a few cases where people have done this. It's like people think that the new kid will be put out at the curb if he or she is not a match. If I needed to do it, and could still have children, I would do it.
