Spinoff to Jteach's post: Processional down aisle

Well since we all know someone whoever it may be has to walk us down the aisle....

what is the rest of the order of people walking down? Do the grandmothers get walked down, is FH already up there with best man or does fh's parents walk him down and then the best man stands up there with him. Who walks my mom down since my dad is walking me down. I never got this. I know the order of my bridal party just no of the other people involved lol

I think it depends on what you are getting married---in my friends Jewish ceremony her parents walked her down and his parents walked him. But in all the Catholic ceremonies I have been in and gone to, the groom and all the GM are standing up there and the BM walk down. For both of my sisters weddings, my uncle walked my mom down the aisle. I am getting married Greek and I never went to one--so now I have to inquire about that.

i think its
brides grandparents
( or grandma escorted by a family member )
groom's grandparents
( FH's grandma will be walking with his uncle )
bride's mom ( she will be with my brother )
groom's parents
then
bridesmaids and groomsmen
maid of honor
flower girls
bride with dad

((FH and best man will already be at the altar ))

*I am not sure of this anyone feel free to correct me but this is what I planned on doing

You can do it however you want. That's the beauty of this stuff.

Me personally, I'm having FH already up there with his BM and Jr. BM. Both of my parents are walking me down. My brother will probably walk my grandmothers down, his two sets of parents will walk down, and then the BMs and the GMs will walk down together, and then me and my parents.

I think FH walks his mom down but I am not sure. If not then he is up there with his best man. I think the grandmothers get walked down ahead of time. I am not sure. I guess we will find out at rehearsal.

yeah its weird i feel bad having my mom walk down the aisle with my uncle (her brother). i mean he is my godfather so it is nice but I feel she is such a big part of my life and means so much to me but i dont think she wants to walk me down the ailse with my dad because she is very traditional and also she wants that special moment with my dad and myself.....

what to do what to do

I am going to have it like this:

First will go FMIL escorted by her son the BM

then MOB escorted by her boyfriend/my Godfather (same guy--- don't ask!)

Then all the bridesmaids will walk down NOT escorted by GM

then the Maid & Matron of Honor

Then FOB and ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: Spinoff to Jteach's post: Processional down aisle

i have a question

i always thought the brides parents/grandparents went first but it looks like everyone else is doing the groom's parents/grandparents first

does anyone know which way is correct?

i thought everything in wedding planning is usually bride first like bride's name first etc. so i thought that was why bride's family should go first . . .any thoughts?

My mom said that the Bride's family goes last in everything because they are traditionally the hosts of the event, and there should be a long pause between the families.

But then again she's not a fan of FMIL so I don't know if she is telling me the truth or not!!!!
