just to clarify, the is NOT our kitchen. these are pics from a home that we are considering buying.
Is the cabinet/floor combination the only question mark with this house? Considering how *picky* you've said you are (
), I think even with the wallpaper, this kitchen is more than livable.I tend to agree that even a change in wall color would draw attention away from what seems to be sticking out to you now.
The woods together were a thought of mine when we were picking out cabinets, but in the end, they were my favorite and I don't regret the choice (and our walls are just white but our granite is black). We actually were on a mission to get black toekicks to break it up so the woods wouldn't be touching ... but we never did find what we were looking for and we still have NO toekicks!!! Hmmmm ... Tim's got work to do!!

although i would like to answer w/ a yes, it is not the case. there are MANY positives abut the home, but there are other negatives besides the kitchen. everything is cosmetic and we are confident that we can do most of the work ourselves.
NEGATIVES
- living room, study, den, stairs, 2nd floor hallway and 2 bedrooms have dingy wall to wall carpeting. wood floors are underneath
- the screens on the sliders in the kitchen are ripped
- wall of mirrors in the bedroom
- outdated wallpaper in foyer, stairs leading to 2nd floor and 2 of the 4 bedrooms
- kitchen appliances somewhat outdated
- chain link fence around property is old and needs to be replaced
- master bath is small and needs to be updated (think 1980's decor)
- deck needs to be resanded and stained
- desparately needs landscaping
I KNOW THE PREVIOUS OWNERS AND I DON'T THINK ANYTHING (expect new roof, new furnace and windows) HAVE BEEN DONE SINCE THE CURRENT OWNERS BOUGHT THE HOUSE IN 1995
HOWEVER
Positives
- 4 bdrms
- 3.5 bths
- HUGE eik kitchen
- den w/ fireplace
- LRM
- FDRM/office
- cac
- cvac
- 2 car heated garage
- .50 acres
- double tiered decking
- pool
- hot tub
- full finished basement w/ kitchen, bath, w/d and ose
- another w/d on 2nd floor
- located on a cul-de-sac
IMO -> great price for the area. home was on market, now off. i contacted the owner and they are willing to sell on own and will negotiate w/ price.

RE; Kitchen I also think you should Paint first before staining floor or cabinets. Color makes a world of difference.Re: the negatives
IMO these are all so minor, in fact I would expect to do alot of them on my own anyway.
Positives def outweigh the negs!
Good luck!

I agree- I think the cabinets & floor colors don't match. The cabients seem 'cool' & the floor 'warm'It hink it is easiily fixable, not sure what is the least expensive way to go about that.
You could always paitnthe cabinets, that might be easier or aleady stained wood.

Beautiful kitchen Wendy! As for the house Skew, I think the positives outweigh the negatives. The negatives are all things you can fix
Try to negotiate the price a little lower to cover the costs! Good Luck!

skew, to answer your ques:I think the cabinets are too light for the floors. I also think the marble is very dark for such light cabinets.
Could you stain the cabinets to be a bit darker (more like the floor) then paint the walls a moderate color, ,ike sage as someone suggested, or a pale yellow or ochre?
