Spinoff to Lorin’s tiff post….

So, FH is not very close with his mom, grandma (one reason is that his mom and grandma are still close with his ex). He’s felt very betrayed and abandoned by them in his life. He’s also not close with his sister. So, he does not want to invite them to the wedding at all…I tried to explain to him that he HAS to because it’s his family, etc., but he just says that they wouldn’t come anyway (they never go to family functions).
What I would like to know are you ladies thoughts on this? I think they should be invited out of respect, but he really doesn’t want to. TIA

just like Lorin's situation... they should be invited whether he thinks they will accept the invitation or not isnt really good enough not to send the invitation.

That's a really tough one. There's obviously a lot of stuff that must've happened throughout the years.
While I'd say invite them, and let the ball be in their court...I'm wondering if your FH is pushing to NOT invite them so that they have no say in it whatsoever? This way, it's his decision...and he doesn't have to deal with any feelings he may have if they RSVP 'no'.
Maybe I'm reading too into it.

You know, I've never thought about it like that. He might just not want to deal with a no response, like you said. Maybe I'll bring that up to him and see how he feels about it.
