spinoff to mom dress question - 'what not to wear'-esque advice?
so my mom is short (4'11'), she also dresses very young and refuses to get a traditional MOB dress...
however, she is a little thick around the middle
are there any BM dresses that might be a good style for her body type?
i was thinking maybe something with an asymmetrical waist and ruching, maybe a halter top or something off the shoulders

how about just finding a nice gown from lord & taylor or bloomies or macys???

I'm 5'2 and curvy and I found this dress (from David's Bridal) to be very flattering, it has asymmetrical ruching..perfect to hide the tummy

would she consider a dupioni silk suit with a shorter skirt (mid-calf)? I think those look awesome on petit women, and the jacket on top helps to shape. Most of the MOB manufacturers have them out there: Mon Cheri Montage, etc. Also, check out the bridesmaid dresses and special occasion from Watters. They have some beautiful stuff that would look great on a petite!
