Spinoff to my 'In A Moment...' Thread

Alot of you stated that you would be very surprised if something like this were to occur...
Most of you were quite adament about the fact that it would NEVER happen...
I like to believe that there would be very clear cut signs of something like this happening...What do you think?

I'd like to think I know my FH well enough to know if he had any kind of violent tendencies.

You would have had to see something beforehand. Girls may just be in denial. It would probably start out with him being VERY possesive and then spiral out from there

Nope none.

I believe volient men are like preditors.. waiting for their moment. Yes they can switch it on and off. If they find other outlets for their anger it could be decades before it hits home.

I think it CAN happen overnight.

I also believe, personally, some women are just BEGGING for it. JMHO. I've seen it personally. Still doesn't make it right but it makes it harder on the man to keep a still hand. The one time he lashes out, it's over and he knows it. That's tough. Some women just prey on men like that.

I would like to think there would be signs, but you are always hearing on the news about an accused murderer who's neighbors are like 'I can't believe this. He seemed like such a nice young man. Why, just last week he cut down some weeds in my garden and offered to get my cat out of the tree.' Of course, you don't know your neighbors as well as you know your FH/DH, but I do think there are rare instances where someone just flips out without any prior warning or strange behavior.

I am always a tiny bit wary...I think more people have violent tendencies than we think.

Obviously, this does not apply to my FH or to the FH/DH of anyone on this site.

Normally I'd agree with you. But I've personally seen it.

Yea, really?! What kind of S#!% is that?
Are you serious posting something like that on these boards??
Instead of telling people to FM you, why don't you just post your opinions?

Ditto, maybe they are more at risk because of things that have happened in their past but begging for it, I think this is kinda harsh!!

I do believe that some men hide their tendencies well, and while I don't believe there are always 'clear cut signs', I do think you can look for warnings....

I believe any man who has control issues should be watched out for....someone who tries to tell you how to dress, how to do your hair, whether or not to wear make-up, someone who needs you to check in with them at every step....these are all signs that something is 'not right'....

I agree...At least this is the idea that some schools of thought teach...

Re: Spinoff to my 'In A Moment...' Thread

Scenario:

Woman stands in a laundry mat with a girl in her hands. Literally IN HER HANDS! The girl is dangling her feet as the woman has her hands wrapped tightly around her throat and has her lifted in the air.

The Man fearing for the child's safety begs to let the child free. As do others in the area. It's a shocking thing to see. The reply from the woman 'What are you doing to do about it, hit me?'

Fast forward to home, the Man has walked with his child the 3 miles home because he has defended his child and threaten to call the cops. The Man and woman argue about the treatment of the child. The woman has a history of this sort of thing.

That night the woman is told she must settle with the girl. The Man has demanded it. Instead the Woman attacks the girl. In defense the Man hold the woman back.

The woman attacks the man. All out!
Should he hit her?????

No he doesn't. Bloody and beaten he retreats. Cops are called, but they don't care. Who believes a man is beaten by his wife? Years and years of this go on and on. Public humilation of the Man. Continuous sly manauvers to conveniently strike at his precious daughter in a way that no police can help. The pain and agony grows over years and years of mental and emotional abuse the woman has put him through. The screaming, the teasing, the insults.

Decades of it.
Frankly, yah. There are women begging for it. (that and the man's an idiot, the whole thing is a timebomb)

I've seen even worse in some other areas. I hate to say 'trail home parks' as if it's the ONLY place it happens, but visiting friends I'd hear what would happen. Some women truly are cruel to their men, with or without children. Not all women are kind and lovely and helpless. Women can be preditors too.

They are (granted) the exception to the rule. But that's life isnt it? Full of exceptions?

I grew up in a rough neighborhood. Nothing was sacred. There was very little to be happy about and a lot to be afraid of.

The things I've seen.

Hell the last time I was in my old 'hood' I sat in front of my kid siblings' room with a .45 Mag (enough to knock ME on my a$$ if i used it) hoping I wont have to use it as my father sat on the front porch with a 9mm. Both of us hoping those other gunshots don't come closer.

People thing of gangs and they think boys with bad attitudes and drugs. I think of men and women (GROWN!) as well and girls and boys with razors in their mouths and guns at their hips. No innocence here.

$hit hapens. I guess you could say I lived in a place where rules don't apply.

In reading that I don't think the women was begging to be hit she is begging for help, If this women had prior history why was it not treated? In no way does she deserve to be hit , so what she asked him what are you gonna do hit me she said that because she knew he wouldn't, I do beleive men are also abused but gove me an f*in break, that scenario is ridiculos and who was watching this and didn't call the police prior to them going home!!
