I don't think its there anymore I went home to San Antonio last year and drove out to the area I grew up. Still scares me.

Technically I grew up on what was known as the Ray Ellison area of San Antonio. Deep and far southwest behind the two major military bases fo Kelly and Lackland.

For any who have served in the Air Force or lived in San Antonio or Austin.. you'd know the area.

Im considered a sucess story (HAHA who knew?) cause I got out. Then I got my parents out. It was the best they could do, both were divorced and both had kids. My father kept his (my bro and I) but my stepmother had child support due for her four.

I love my dad for giving me a safe haven at home. I can't imagine the 'what ifs'

Yes.. read below. I was a lucky one. But I had to see this stuff around me. Never happened in my house. My father would have flipped!

That girl had no other siblings. I knew her. My brother used to say he'd be put in jail for beating that woman. He always wanted to beat her when he saw her. My Dad kept him away.

I see your point and agree.

No man should be a woman (as I mentioned in your first post). It's not to be. Not for spur of the moment anger.

I grew up in a rough neighborhood. Nothing was sacred. There was very little to be happy about and a lot to be afraid of.

The things I've seen.

Hell the last time I was in my old 'hood' I sat in front of my kid siblings' room with a .45 Mag (enough to knock ME on my a$$ if i used it) hoping I wont have to use it as my father sat on the front porch with a 9mm. Both of us hoping those other gunshots don't come closer.

People thing of gangs and they think boys with bad attitudes and drugs. I think of men and women (GROWN!) as well and girls and boys with razors in their mouths and guns at their hips. No innocence here.

$hit hapens. I guess you could say I lived in a place where rules don't apply.

No.. I was scared crapless half the time. I didnt WANT to shoot the gun but if your family were at risk would you?

I didn't get much choice on that one. Dad said 'we have one night left and that's it' (literally all the stuff was gone they were packed to go). It was a LONG night.

I hate guns.. (not anti-guns) but honestly (and stupidly) they kill.
I hated the area I grew up in. Doesnt' mean I need anger management. I had tons of happy times with my family. Im just saying not all of us are so lucky

AGAIN this is why Im so big into giving to Charities of Battered women (See my post on the Charity Board)

It's probably why I took so long to 'settle down' I wanted to be SURE.
