Spinoff to $$ Question

Spinoff to $$ Question

Do you have people who are coming to your wedding who you know won't give a gift or give a sub-par gift?

For instance, FH and I went to the wedding of one his college buddies. Another mutual friend attended this wedding, and we know for a fact that one guy gave a sub-par gift (he filled out the check when we were on the shuttle over to the reception, and he definitely didn't account for his date in how much he gave) and then another friend at that same wedding joked about 'putting his name on the card' since he didn't even bring a card. He gave no gift.

So FH and I are well aware that we have a few guests who are not etiquette saavy when it comes to wedding, and we won't expect much from them.

What about you guys?

I don't know that I could pinpoint specific guests, but yes, I absolutely think it will happen.

I knew about one person...but she came from OOT and I was just thrilled she was there...that was enough of a gift to me!

Another one was a huge surprise. I'm still very upset about it...some of my chicas here know. No card at all. Screw the money. No card to say congrats. That one really hurts.

people we didn't expect to give sub par gifts did like really unbelievably sub par for the amount of money they have, their relationship to us, etc.

then some college friends gave us really crappy gifts... but then some gave us way more than expected

we had some on FH side mail a gift to us. Him and his wife are both attending. and they gave us a steak knife set (which was on our registry). FH was pissed and said they better give us something else the day of... i said i pretty much doubt that. He was pissed.

we got some gifts from people whom said no, which was nice of them to do.

we will find out the rest next week!

i have a feeling only with my friends - a lot of them i know don't make much and I'll be lucky if i get $50 check or anything at all.

but, i know family members who will give more than they should, so i guess it kinda balances it out?

I had only ONE guest (well, couple) not give anything and it made me MAD. This guest is my cousin who I was a BM for when I was younger, maybe 20 years old. She's in her 30s, lives with her b/f, makes a decent amount of money. She didn't even give us a card.

Meanwhile, my 20 year old self (and I didn't live with my parents!) gave her $250 for her less than 2 year marriage. And that's not to mention a shower gift or my BM dress.

Its a good question because I am not expecting anything from my side of the family, I am hoping I can get a least a card wishing us good thoughts.
