Spinoff to something Goldie said....

my dear Goldie and her pearls of wisdom are usually on point. she said in Sea's post about reviews, I think with a little tongue in cheek, that maybe some of the brides are writing thank you notes b/c of all the threads there are with complaints for not receiving one.

with that in mind, I have noticed A LOT of posts that start 'Is this rude' or 'should I be upset' or something like that, and then goes on to bash some poor person that hasn't sent a thank you note in the proper time or did something else that to me personally is completely irrelevant.

things like this do not offend me, and it makes me wonder WHY we are so eager and quick to slap someone with the rudeness moniker....is it another way to stroke our own egos???? assuming that we- the non-rude people, will do it BETTER?? I don't know- I just can't get that uppitty in my britches about things like that- especially if I know the person- life gets in the way sometimes, but I know that if I bequeath a gift on to my friend, no matter when she says thank you, I know she is grateful.

this is a VERY long rant, but it just bothers me sometimes the eagerness that we brides jump on others for 'etiquette violations'

that's it- the end....

LOL- thanks. actually, I was an english minor, forensic psychology major- but I love writing, so thanks again!

in reference to my little rant, I was just commenting on various posts I have seen, not one in particular. I am sure you will come across more in the days and months to come...maybe even from ME!!! (though I hope not!!!)

i guess it depends.

there is usually a reason behind why a person is 'soo insulted' about not getting the note.

Some people may have been judged in the past, themselves, for writing a thank you note late or not writitng it at all - and now that person is ALL about writting them on time or proper etiquette.

maybe that person is just a stickler about it.

im not saying i care- because honestly i dont- but i guess if you , yourself, make the effort to do something like that soonafter the gift receipt or the wedding, its nice to have the favor returned i guess? who knows

I think you have made a good observation-you have proved that your degree (forensic psych) has paid off!

Personally I think you cant change the way people are or act, and since these boards are public and anonymous, you're definitely going to see people post things that 'stroke their own egos'. Although most of us do not make a big deal out of little things like, there are people out there that do and will rant and rave about it...fortunately we have the option to skip the post...

With your forensic psych major and my criminal justice and public affairs major I think we can bring some order here!

Wow! I got a subject heading!!! Thanks! I agree with you. I can't get bent out of shape about things I cannot control. A person cannot control when and how people write thank you notes. I grew up in a home where we wrote thank you notes for cards so it wouldn't be fair for me to say. As far as after a wedding goes, people are very busy organizing new homes and enjoying being newlyweds. It may not always be like that forever!

Preshy- I definitely understand what you are saying...of course it would be NICE for people to formally thank others for their gifts- but to call them rude and everything else- I just feel it brings unnecessary bad vibes in the world. I would think that someone that had been slammed before would be more understanding, but you're right, and I am sure that is not necessarily the case.

Life's to short to get so upset or feed bad energy into the world...and no I am not new age or anything, it's just wasted energy to me.

M & S- if we can find a third, we can form a new Charlie's Angels!!

Goldie- I'd rather be making babies (or at least going through the motions ) than writing a thank you or ANYTHING else for that matter ANY DAY!!!

I agree with you. I try not to rant too much about people's manners unless I really think they went above and beyond to be rude. With my post about my coworker, I really do think he was truly being rude. In the big scheme of things, it really doesn't matter. But sometimes, you gotta vent!
