I'll start...
My Dad...Fought in Korea. Lost 3/4 of the men in his troop. Carried his best friend up a hill (he was already dead and full of holes). My father didn't want to leave him on the front line. He later suffered hearing damage due to a mortar exploding near him. He still can't talk about it without getting extremely emotional. We had his name included on the Memorial wall over at Eisenhower as a surprise. He was beyond moved and still goes there every Veteran's Day to look at it...

My Maternal Grandfather was in the Navy during WWII. He was always my hero from the time that I was a little little girl.

My father served in Vietnam. He was just about to be drafted and decided to enlist in the Navy. He said it was quite an experience.
And he worked today. I think every vetearn should have the day off. IMO its an insult they don't.

my grandfather Paul...served in WWII under General Patton in the ARMY.

my father was in the navy in vietnam and my dh father was in the army but didnt serve in a war

my father was a marine in the vietnam war. he voluntarily went. his brother was also in the war, he was a paratrooper(the guys jumping out of planes, not sure if i got it right).
edited to add that fh's grandfather was being signed by the YANKEES and got drafted!
