Spinoff to wearing dress to hotel.....What about a bar?

FH and I decided that is was too complicated and too much work to have an after party in the conference room of our hotel (they do not have a bar) So we are going to a local bar, we know the people and the owner. My question is should I wear my dress there or change into my gatting ready outfit (I have a hoodie that says Mrs. XXXXX est. 10-05-07) Or just a top and jeans, but leave the veil in? My sis says it is so white trash to wear the dress, I just thought it would be good fun. What do my LIW girls think?

white trash? since when is wearing your wedding gown white trash - no matter where it is? if i saw a bride in her dress at a random local bar i would love that - and i'd probably buy her a drink!

i agree with the girls......i am soooo wearing my dress as long as i can. we might go to a local bar also. . its the only day you will wear it!!!! i dont care what people think anyway,, do what makes you more comfortable!!

Not white trash at all, just plain old fun.

After a couple of formal events, inlcuding weddings, we usually wound up at the local diner for some coffee. Everyone was still in tuxes and gowns.
Sort of 'dresses' up the place.
Will DH be in his tux and the BP in their gear ?

I like the idea of the hoodie and jeans with the veil, but that might scream bachelorette party.


PS might make a good photo op too - a picture of you sitting on top of the bar.
I want to do that at my RH because they have such a great bar in the room. FH thinks I 'm nuts.

I plan on wearing my dress to the after party at a bar as well, when will I ever wear my dress again??? That sucker is staying on until it falls off!!! ...or gets ripped off!!

go for it--you only live once.

trust me -- that day you will NOT want to take it off for anything. and it might be attention whore-ish but its a great feeling having lots of ppl see you in your dream, congratulate you, and even buy you drinks!

I was actually in a bar one time when a bride and groom came in after their wedding...ahahah they were like celebrities...people wanted pictures with them

I am planning on wearing it to the bar in the hotel after for a couple of drinks and if we end up not staying at the hotel then I am wearing it in the car on the way home.

wear the dress....I wore my dress to the after party and loved it...my uncle told me to take it off, and I snapped back, when you pay me for half of the dress, i'll take it off.

You pay so much and only get to wear it once....just make sure your DH stays in his tux.

I say wear the dress. I do not think it is white trash at all. I went to a wedding a few years ago that DH was best man in and we all went to a bar across the street from the catering hall. The bride stayed in her dress and she that couple is far from being white trash.

Definitely weat it!!!!!! I would!!! You paid alot of money for it and when will you ever wear it again??? I think everyone in the bar would love to see a bride and groom walk in!!!!

I wore my wedding gown until the afterparty. Then I wore a white dress I got at Estelles on sale. It was really nice and everyone loved it. So my opinion try and find something to wear to the afterparty. I was glad I changed because after being in my wedding gown for 11 hours I was ready to take it off. I was tired of fumbling and stepping all over it.

BTW I am in Rome on honeymoon and very jetlagged which is why I am up and on the computer!

TOTALLY go for it!! We walked a few doors down to a TGIFridays on Sunrise Highway and I stayed in my gown and veil!

Here we are in Friday's- notice DH is out of his tux FAST and in his dumpy Yankee shirt (I think it was Giambi)

And here I am on Sunrise Highway!
