FH is in construction business and gets his hands dirty sometimes...what do you think would be a better choice of metal for his wedding band? Platinum or Titanium? He is not happy about getting 2 wedding bands. He wants 1 and wants to wear it all the time.

I would go for a simple gold one (yellow or gold) for everyday while he works. Why spending so much money? He could get a 'nicer' one for when he is not working.

yep, absolutely. If it can stop bullets (as FH likes to always point out) I think it will be safe when he does his work.

Re: Spinoff to Wedding Bands for FHs
I just recently ordered FH's wedding band and our jeweler (family friend) told us that anything besides platinum is going to 'turn' and that you will have to get it cleaned and re-dipped or something.....we just wanted something low-maintenance and the most durable, so we got him platinum.

Syl, get Titanuim!!!!!
Titanium is a natural element which has a silver-greyish-white color. Titanium is the hardest natural metal in the world. It is very strong, three times the strength of steel and much stronger than gold, silver and platinum and yet is very light weight. Pure titanium is also 100% hypoallergenic which means that it if safe for anyone to wear as it will not react to your skin.
Titanium provides several unique factors that make it a good metal for jewelry. It is very strong, more dent, bend and scratch resistant than gold, silver and platinum, is lightweight and importantly offers an exotic array of colors which other metals simply do not.
One factor to consider with titanium is that titanium cannot be soldered, which means that titanium rings cannot normally be resized.
Titanium rings made using pure titanium can normally be cut-off the finger in the event of an emergency, though they are more difficult to cut-off than gold, silver or platinum rings. Aircraft grade titanium rings normally cannot be cut-off in the event of an emergency.

Titanium! Platinum is heavy whereas Titanium is light weight on the finger and can't get scratched. Be aware thought that Titanium can't be engraved.

I would actually steer away from titanium bands if he works with his hands a lot. They are extremely durable - which means that they are VERY difficult to cut off if his hand gets caught on something or injured in any way. I'm sure he'd rather lose his ring than his finger...
My FH was interested in titanium bands, but he works on cars as a hobby and when we were ring browsing and he told the jeweler that she said that titanium might not be the best choice for him.

WOW! I would have NEVER thought of that - it's such a good point. My sister broker her hand in an accident and she was so upset because they cut her ring off but the nurse said the exact same thing 'It's your ring or your finger... one of them is getting cut off'. What a great point about someone who does work like that.
