Spinoff to what went wrong

What vendor(s) exceeded your expectations? What was the BEST part of your day?

Re: Spinoff to what went wrong

our band exceeded our expectations. we had a really unusual first dance song ('I'll Cover You' from RENT) and asked our band to combine the two versions, make it into a guy/girl duet and change the ending..... and they absolutely nailed it. I was sooo worried but it was better than I could have imagined.

They also came up to us in the reception and asked if they were too loud, too quiet, if we had any requests, etc. We got so many compliments on them from our guests.

I was so happy with CODE BLEU and would recommend them to anyone!

Also, our tux place was fantastic. My family has used them for years and they were amazing. helped us find a tie that matched my BM dresses perfectly, spent so much time with us, were so easy to work with, gave us a fantastic price (3 free tuxes, a free upgrade for DH, etc) and included free fittings for the guys to make sure their tuxes fit perfectly. They had the tailor come in on a Saturday because we were a Sunday wedding and most of the guys were from OOT, even though they usually only have it during the week.

The owner was amazing with my grandpa who has parkinsons and has limited mobility.... spent an hour with DH at his fitting and swapped out his tux pants for a different pair of the same ones to find the best fit. When DH's brothers came in he ended up throwing in free black/white saddle shoes for DH's little bro to wear to our rehearsal dinner bc he was wearing the yellow plaid tux his grandfather wore to his parents wedding and wanted shoes to match....

Would highly recommend ESQUIRE TUXEDOS in Merrick (FM me if you want to see pictures)

Im pretty happy with all of them! For the most part, they did exactly what i wanted...but if i had to pick one, id say M-i-a, I LOVED how my hair and makeup came out and all of my bm's...she was there exctly when she was supposed to and worked really hard to make us all look great!

I also LOVED Joe from Camelot Limos..he personally picked me up (hes smart and knew i was an LIW bride ) but he was so professional and on time as well as such a nice funny guy and honestly i think he was part of the reason that i was so calm before the ceremony...he would make jokes and things and it really kept me calm and i wasnt the least bit nervous getting to my church

I LOVED my proofs from Velvet! Larkfield Manor did a GREAT job, and FM entertainment kept the party going all night, so yeah i was a happy bride haha

I was SO happy with my RH. They were SO attentive... there was so much food, and it was GOOD... I heard that the waiter/table service was awesome... and I know my maitre d' and Bridal attendant really went out of their way. I have NO complaints about Miller Place Inn at ALL. Except maybe that everyone must have gained 10 pounds that night from all of the food.

I LOVE our photographer, Visual Concepts. I had 2 shooters (traditional and photojournalistic) they were awesome. They showed me some of the shots on the camera as they were taking them... they were so efficient and unintrusive... they even made me a mini album and presented it to us at the RH! I can't wait to see my proofs b/c I know they will be amazing.

My third vendor that I really loved was Splurge Bakery. They made my favor cookies. They were SO cute and tasted good too! Very excited about them.

I was beyond happy with my band Code Bleu. I thought they were amazing and they were so easy to work with. I had a few requests that I wasn't sure if the band could play but they did. There was live music the entire time - not once did they ever put a CD on. Many of my guests are still telling me how much they loved the band

MY RH...the food was excellent and the service was great. Except for the drop of the top of the cake which was a complete accident they were awesome. My BA was never intrusive but always had food and drink waiting for us wherever we were.

Rolling Pin bakery...the cake was delicious and exactly what I asked for.

Kacey and Zoriada from Kholoud's Beauty...I thought they did an amazing job on all of my BMs, my mom and myself. I still feel bad for two of my cousins who went elsewhere and they were so disappointed that they didn't get there makeup and hair done at my house. Kacey and Zoriada were on time, super friendly and not a single hair fell for anyone and everyone's makeup still looked great at the end of the night.

Not really a vendor but I love my parish and St. Mary's did a wonderful job. The service was beautiful and the new pastor, Fr. Don performed our ceremony. We only had a chance to meet with him a couple of times but he made our ceremony so personal it was wonderful.

Re: Spinoff to what went wrong

I had a few vendors that I really loved. The lady who did my hair, Emily was recommended to me by one of my bms. She was great-I did a trial with her and it came out great but on the day of the wedding it came out even better. I was really worried about timing of 6 girls and me to get our hair done. She got everyone's hair done in about 3 hours and everyone looked beautiful and their hair stayed in. Plus the price was great.

My sister (not really a vendor but I still had to mention her) did my makeup and I have to say she was fabulous! I was a little worried that it wouldn't come out so great in pictures but it really looks great. We went shopping for all the makeup so I can actually use it again.

Also, my flowers were OMG amazing! I used Bayport flower house which is not a 'wedding florist' but my family has gotten flowers from there for years. They were perfect-totally got what I was talking about. Without seeing an actual swatch of the bm dress color, they matched the bouquet wraps perfectly. When the flowers got there I started crying a little because they were gorgeous and it finally hit me that I was getting married.

I can honestly say that I was happy with every single one of my vendors. But the ones that I feel truly went above and beyond were:

Jericho Terrace - Simply amazing, as I thought they would be. Every single person that worked there was fantastic to deal with. And the food was delicious.

Body Rock - They turned my reception in to a true dance party. The dance floor was never empty and every one of my requested songs was played

My hair and makeup - I decided to use my regular hairdresser and my friend who is a makeup artist rather than the usual 'wedding pros'. I was so happy with my wedding day look. My makeup never had to be touched up (except for my lipstick) and my hair was exactly what I wanted (although it did fall towards the end of the night from dancing). I'm so happy that I went with my gut and used two people who know their stuff and that I trusted.

code bleu and Christine from EAP were my favorite vendors of the day. I can't tell you how many people complimented us on the band we chose and how many members of my BP and their mothers (literally) are indebted to Christine for helping them with their dresses.
