FH and I want to build a log cabin on a lake upstate NY (preferable in the Adirondacks). I want a big stone fire place within the Great Room and radiant heat on the floors.

Definitely a house right on the water... last summer FH and I went to Lake George and we fell in LOVE with some of the houses around the lake. My dream is to have a boat that we can take out every weekend, a big yard for the kids to play in, yet still be close enough to the city where we're not in the middle of nowhere. Someday!!!

My aunt/uncle have a log cabin house upstate (3 1/2 hours up) and they love it. Its small but really cute. Lots of acres. I went there overnight and I was dying. I dont like living like that.. I need my stores right near me, not 20 min away That house looks beautiful

Prob. a tudor house near the water but not on it (or near a lake) but needs to be near a good town where there is lots to do and near transportation (train).
I would never want to live in the middle of nowhere but i do like a quite retreat so no major cities.

Something big - high cielings - on the water - but with a BIG back yard - and a pond with ducks. Hardwood floors and lofts...finished basement and a theatre.

Friends of ours have a house about 5 1/2 hours away in the Adirondacks (Caroga Lake NY). The nearest town is 45 minutes away and I love it. When we are there for a week or more, you forget what day of the week it is. Time disappears. It's wonderful.
I want something on the water, big and open and definitely in the 'burbs but close to NYC.

a huge home, maybe 3 floors with big private backyard, big circular driveway in the front in the middle of manhattan which doesnt exist though so my dream home is great bc its not like im really missing out on it
