OMG!!! I was just reading this and I need to know what Im doing wrong. My budget started at $15k and now Im already almost at $20k. Im paying for everything I DONT have anything saved So far based on 116 ppl:
-RH - $70 pp =Approx $10,200 (inclusing ceremony fee $500) -Photo - $3000 -Flowers- Approx $1200 -Rings - mine approx $1500 his - $105 (Thanks god he wanted titanium) -DJ -$500 -Favors - approx $120 -Invites (hoping that I like the sample) about $220 -Shoes - $64 FG Dress $50 My dress $2500(Alterations not included) Slip $49 Have to get FH suit Corset hair accessories veil? Ring bearer suit officiant/judge limos

It sounds like you're doing a great job of keeping costs down. My reception hall alone costs twice of what yours does.

I started saying, I think I can do this whole thing for 10K. Then i booked my hall at 2x's that. Now I am at 2x the hall cost. Sometimes it just happens. Save save save. You only get to do this once. We are living tight but I think you just get it done. We also are paying for it ourselves. Don't stress about it. It's just a party.

It adds up amazingly, and it's the little bits that kill you. You don't realize how much they add up. We're doing OK so far, I think. We wanted to keep it under 10K, and so far we are. But then we're having a smaller wedding, on a Sunday afternoon.
Do most couples pay for the flower girl and ringbearer outfits? I was feeling guitly about how much our flowergirl outfit is going to cost, but we have to get that one because it has to match my youngest jr bridesmaid's outfit, and she needs that company (because she's plus-size and they're one of the only ones who will do special sizing.) I was thinking we'd offer to pay half. I might have chosen something much cheaper except for my other niece's dress.

My budget is also 15K. We're having our reception for 70-80 at a gorgeous restaurant instead of a hall, so that saves on a DJ (they have a sound system...we're using an ipod!) and it's only 65 pp icluding open bar. We're also paying for everything ourselves so I just keep socking away every little bit. The good thing is that you don't have to pay for everything in full at one time...deposits, deposits, deposits...

From what I've read in bridal magazines when they talk about budgets, generally I think your total cost ends up being about 2x the cost of your RH.
So far that seems about right for us ....

if you wanted to save, i definetely wouldnt spend that much on your wedding band. the expensive ring is supposed to be your e ring. you can find beautiful rings for 500 or less

Honestly, to me it looks like your doing pretty well with the prices. My hall is double that. With deposits, and 3 payments to the hall we have already payed out 17000. Your doing great!

Ill try to answer some of the questions: We are paying for the FG dress (as of now). Its only $49. I too looked at a fg dress/jr bm dress that matched the bm and it was $179! Hell no! I wouldn't dream of paying that much for a 7 yr old so I would even think of asking her mom. My FG's mom and RB' mom are both struggling single moms so I am trying to help them out considering both of their moms are spending $189 + on their bm dresses (plus alterations!)
We ordered our wedding bands Friday night and I actually tried to go less expensive but FH wasn't having it. He had my E-ring made so he wanted the band to match. I told him I would go with white gold over plat. but he wanted everything to match....dont ask. hes anal when it comes to somethings.(Needless to say Im still here with no e-ring b/c the jeweler has it )
Im putting ll my deposits on my cc and then im taking a loan to pay for all the final balances. Hey! You only get to do this once right?
