I once had my exboyfriends present girlfriend (she didn't know I was his ex) tell me that I was really pretty in a plain kind of way.

I was at the gap shopping for clothes and I had a size ) in my hand..the lady looks at me and says, you should try a 6, they are cut big in her..***. SO i proceeded to try on the blazer infront of her and it fit perfectly. I so wanted to smack her

AT a gathering for my birthday several years ago, I introduced a good friend to my less than subtle cousin, who replied 'Oh, that's great, he's your token black friend and your token gay friend all rolled into one' Right in front of him!!!!!!!

a friend of mine had broken up with her boyrfiend of five years...(i was not with anyone at this time) and in the midst of her angst she said to me: '...i don't know how you wake up alone every morning knowing you're alone...'
or something stupid like that.

i used to have BAD acne....i mean, big cyst like pimples that would only go away with an injection. I used to work at a drug store and one of my coworkers, this guy, came up to me and said 'WHAT THE HELL HAPPENED TO YOUR HEAD??' I had a huge, i mean, mosquito bite sized zit in the center of my forehead. I was so embarrassed I cursed him out and then he later apologized to me. Then other times, people were so mean, they used to tell me 'Don't you wash your face? Thats why you have acne'. UM no, thats not why...its hereditary!

I ran into my fathers friend in a restaurant a few years ago who asked me how my father and his girlfriend Holly were doing.

Problem is, my father was still with my mother..the friend realized his children and wife knew nothing..got embarrased and lets just say it had to be the most awkward moment of my life. I think the restaurant went dead and you could hear crickets chirping, lol...

I was at the restaurant with my best friend...I started crying after the guy left...went home and told my mom. She suspected it..had been done before with the same person...but I didn't know anything...it had to be the worst moment of my life. Years later they are divorced and he married the other woman...kind of destroyed the whole mindset i had that my dad was perfect!!

Actually TODAY I went for bloodwork and after the technician read my script from my doctor he goes, 'Oh you MUST be sick to be having all this bloodwork'

What the heck is that? Why would you tell someone that? Isn't that rude? I was appalled that I couldn't even say anything. Who is he to tell me that?

When this weird woman(she was like a priest in yellow robes) was at my yoga class and she asked me if I was my friend Samatha's mom! I know my friend is about 8 years younger, but mom! Come on!!!!! That killed me!

Oh, I thought of a couple more. When I was in high school I was having bloog work done at the doctors office and the gu drawing the blood was like, 'you have great veins' I was like 'thanks, I'll keep that in mind if I ever consider shooting heroine.'
My MIL tends to speak before she thinks and has been known to say some outrageous things. We were having pizza with the whole family and talking about having kids. DH tends to have big facial features and I have smaller ones, so we were joking that our kids better either look like me or like him, because if they mix features we're going to have some trouble. So my MIL chimes in that not all my features our small, I have a big butt. She didn't mean anything by it, but it was rude and funny at the same time.
Just recently my parents invited my IL's for dinner and my MIL said they couldn't make it because they were having a Halloween Party. It was nothing big, 'just for friends and family.' Me and DH were so embarassed when we heard that, but fortunately my parents weren't offended. They know how she is.

Had to resurrect this post because I thought of something else that the same cousin I posted about before said to me....

When DH and I first met/started dating, I guess I was gushing about him a bit and she said:

You know, as quickly as this has all started, it could just end...

so nonchalant about it, I was so angry at her, she's just ridiculous!!!! Needless to say, we've 'grown apart!'

Preface: FH is Jewish, I was raised Catholic.

The day FH and I got engaged, we were in Florida visiting his grandparents. We all went out for dinner that night to celebrate and we had to wait for a little bit before we could get our table. While we were waiting, his grandmother says to some woman next to us 'They got engaged today!'. FH and I were all blushing and bashful... until his grandmother continued. 'You're not going to believe this but she's a shiksa... and we love her anyway .'

I know she meant it kindly but there was a rather LOOOOONG awkward silence afterwards!
