SPINOFF: Worst wedding/engagement/anything present you ever got?

What's the worst present you've ever received? Extra points for wedding or engagement, but anything will do/

Aside from just tasteless and ugly stuff my aunt sent me one of those gourmet food set things for xmas on year..it was mostly salami and pepperoni and stuff..and I'm a vegetarian!

ewww, me too, i would be laughing my bum off if i got that. hmmm, we've been pretty happy with the gifts we've gotten so far, but the wedding is 38 days away, so I'll let you know.

For our engagement party, we got a set of leopard print martini glasses. These glasses are HUGE and HEAVY--the kind of thing that can be used as a weapon! It's a good brand and they were probably expensive, but it looked like a wedding present they recycled from the 70s.

We got a huge 2ft oval clock. It's all made out of gold & silver plastic. I don't understand why she picked it out though since we're both caucasian & it has a big permanent picture of an african american couple mounted in the center that you CANNOT remove for anything??

I dont get it but its the thought that counts!

(Anyone want a clock?... )

We got a dip and chip set but it was a NASTY green color and it was ceramic (it wasn't completely round) it was horrible. I gave it to my sister because she likes green!

DH's family had a Christmas shower for me so all the gifts were supposed to be Christmas themed. Well someone got us this huge black wooden bowl . It looks like a small boat
I seriously have no clue what to do with this thing other than use it as firewood.

For our engagement party...
It is this round thing about 3' long, 2' high.. It's brown w/ yellow rhinstones. It has been sitting on my fh's mother's dresser since the party b/c we are always looking at it to figure out what it is. It has a hinge, it might be a ring box. We still don't know --kelly

On eof my greataunts, who's probably 85, gave us tis ugly bowl full of fake fruit as our e-gift! It's pretty tacky, but she's so sweet I don't even care. When our friends got married she got some pretty bad stuff at her shower. She got this hideous, but expensive, statue of a man and a women. Her MIL is VERY Italian and gave them a bunch of stuff they didn't register for and isn't really their style. ie: bought nice toasting flutes and them proceeded to wrap them in all kinds of tulle, ribbons and bows- they were horrible!

My aunt got us a flatware pattern that is so not us....she got it from QVC, she is addicted to that channel. She also got us a hug white ceramic buffet set that I don't even know what to use it for. It looks like it's one of those tiered desert trays. Who knows.

I wanted to tell her... you know, I have a registry.

Engagement gift- We got a bagel bowl. It is literally a bowl with a ceramic bagel sticking out of it. First of all- we live in an apartment in NYC- not too much space. Second- We have people over for bagels MAYBE once a year. Oh- and no gift receipt. Needless to say that gift is still at my mom's house.

We also live in a tiny apartment in Queens. When we got engaged my FIL's sent us a ton of Lenox, Precious Moments, and Enesco stuff that is just so not our style and we really don't have room for sny of it. My FH asked his mother why the were sending this stuff to us (who really needs a Lenox wedding cake tea light candle holder?) and she replied that it is for our curio cabinet (which we don't have). My FH resonded you mean our crap cabinet? It is all in a box under our bed now and whenever they come to visit we take it out...

The strange items I got for my wedding:

My dad's company is European, so a lot of his co-workers are from Europe. I guess they don't believe in giving monetary gifts, so they all brought physical gifts to the wedding.

From one person, I got a serving tray, 2 cups, a tea kettle and fabric napkins with pictures of ugly cows and I guess a milkmaid of some sort. The colors were black and yellow and I have never seen anything like this. It came from some store in Europe, so I couldn't even exchange it for something else. It doesn't match a thing we have and honestly, it is not my taste (or anyone else's for that matter). We sold it on eBay. I hated to do it, but what else was I supposed to do?

From another person, I got this huge (and I mean huge - you could probably bathe a baby in it) crystal bowl. The thing weighs like 15 pounds! It's pretty, but too large to put anywhere. I don't know why someone would carry such a large item like that to a wedding. The box it came it was so big, DH and I were wondering what was inside of it all night. I couldn't even lift it. I still have it, but unfortunately it's in our spare bedroom. It's too big to put on a table. I don't know what else to do with it.

I think that was it for wacky gifts. For my shower I pretty much got things on my registry and other pratical items.

I think this is from Fortunoffs- they have a whole bagel serving peice collection. I think they're cute- we got the plate. But I can imagne that the bowl is not necessarily practical.
