Spit-roasted pig at reception (CH)

Spit-roasted pig at reception (CH)

I am 'entertaining' the idea of adding on a spit roasted pig to the CH menu.

for some reason, the idea catches my attention, the the spits they have at the WM are really very nice. I think it might warm the area up a bit too. It's relatively inexpensive compared to some of the other upgrades..

am I nuts..what do you think?

Do they actually display the pig whole, or do they carve it beforehand? I always find the whole pig display a bit creepy, but I love love love pork!

I've been to a few pig roasts and it's so yummy that way!! I think it's a cool idea, but some of your squeamish or animal-lover guests may not appreciate it so much. You know your crowd!!

This is one thing I did not want at CH. I really don't like that the poor animal is there like that. But I do eat bacon! Doesn't make much sense, but I just don't like the way it looks-my opinion.

Personally, it freaks me out. It's your day, do what yo uwant, but just keep in mind your 'audience'

Having lived in the south, I have seen this at many events. Being at the WM, I am sure it would taste great and it would def. be a conversation piece! If you want it go for it!

I'm not a vegetarian but I'd be a little freaked out to see it - however, you and FH know your guests the best and if you want it and they'd love to eat it, go for it.

I have never had it, but I have heard over and over again that it is delicious (not at WM persay, but in general).
What if it rains that day though?

i think it will look cool - but honestly - i have eaten pork cooked that way and its .....i want to say GROSS....but i will use the term 'aquired taste' -

the pork tends to taste VERY gamey (phonetic) so if its too expensive skip it - cause i think it is not something that everyone will enjoy. IMO

We had that option too, but FH and I are not comfortable with it. We really don't want to see the pig and we have a group of vegetarian (and vegan) guests who I am sure would be upset.

I know my FH would want one...

As a Puerto Rican, you know for a fact I'm having one.

Lechon is the best. I agree it looks kinda 'weird' to most but in our culture it's so normal no one really thinks about it. I think you have to take into consideration your 'guests' and how they would feel about it.

We are offered the pig at our CH but when I saw it I said absoultely not!!!!! My mom's side of the family would love this (I'm freaked out cause of the stuff her side does w/ animals and food they are from Peru). I just can't see a whole pig laying there cut up attractive but that's JIMO

If you like it and your guest will enjoy it I'd say go for it! I refuse to have it but that's just me.

It's your party! Personally, as a vegetarian, I would be a little grosse dout, but I would get over it, it's not my party!
What about those that don't eat pork? Is it offensive?

It's not my cup of tea, or cup of pig as the case may be. But if YOU want it, definitely get it!
